handsofclay Posted August 9, 2014 Report Share Posted August 9, 2014 The pitch inspection is at 09.30 and is currently taking place. I can report that the ref and fellow officials are wearing knotted handkerchiefs and are currently testing the pitch to see if their beach ball bounces true in the penalty areas. The ref is most concerned about a blade of grass near the centre circle that appears to be slightly damp but is hopeful that by the time he finishes his ice cream it would've dried up and he can give the game the go ahead. The meteorological office has just informed the ref that a swarm of locusts of biblical proportions is due at Bramall Lane at midday. The only thing that will stop them is a downpour.
