Londoner
Over a quater of the way through the season now, and while you could make life very hard for yourself at this stage, one thing that is for sure is there is ZERO chance you will have automatic promotion sealed...as proved by LO last season. What is interesting this season is the number of teams that are under achieving....look at DONCASTER, BARNSLEY, ORIENT, SHEFF UTD, teams people to be there or there abouts are nowhere, with for me, SWINDON being the only team who are over achieving (I'm discounting Chesterfield as I don't see them as auto promotion candidates)...with MK, Bradford, Preston Peterbrough and Coventry arguably doing as expected. From this we can work out while Auto promotion is never a shoe in, the playoffs arguably are far far more likely than at the beginning of the season....partly down to our start and partly down to the poor start of play off candidTes. Don't forget, swindon lost at Crawley, MK lost at Bradford, Peterborough lost at Yeovil and gillingham, preston lost at Walsall.... We've been getting points away at similar sides...can't be that bad right? We aren't gena run away with this league, no side this season will, but in terms of opposition and just how weak the division looks bar 5/6 teams....surely the playoffs if not automatic promotion are actually looking like a realistic proposition, rather than the hopeful dream we had at the start of the season... Under or over achieving against what criteria? Whether they are a "big" or "small" club, whatever that means? Or the ability and reputation of their players and manager? Or how they did last season? Orient and Sheff U are performing broadly how I expected them to given the changes to their squad and my opinion of their managers. Swindon did reasonably well last season, have strengthened their squad and have a reasonable manger. I don't think they are over achieving at all. I also don't think it looks that weak a division. Drew Peacock
The only reason it is hard to believe we are top is because we have been following City for so long and we haven't really seen this sort of thing before. Strip away the emotion and why shouldn't we be? Finished last season strongly, strengthened the squad well in the summer bringing good balance to the side, solid manager who reacts well with the squad, good squad spirit. I suspect Swindon and Preston are similar.
foghornred
Its true that we have had a good start but remember that last season Orient were top at this point, so there is a long way to go but lets not get carried away just yet.

'Orns
I wasn't there but just remind me of the final score? That wasn't the question! I get your point, but Fleetwood, MK and Walsall have all been games that could've gone the other way, easily It's to our credit that we're still unbeaten, picking up points when you aren't playing well is something we've been poor at for a number of seasons

No I prefer laughing at them, Spud. Plus you've got to factor in the fumigation costs for Ashton Gate every time we have to let their raggle-taggle "supporters" in. We're trying to save money here! cidered abroad
Is it just me that think's this is a bit odd, or am I just being pedantic?Yes a bit strange but I have ceased being amazed at incorrect grammar let alone spelling by a proportion of our fellow City Reds. If one replaces the three instances of "you" in paragraph one with "one" or "oneself" it makes better sense.

That is according to their fans, who infiltrate every possible place that they can, in an attempt to influence peoples opinions about themselves. Then you get the medias love in with them, because they've always been seen as the poor mans team of Bristol, so they give them more coverage than actually warranted. No, ****em, they're in the best place possible. No, ****em, they're in the best place possible. It's typical of them right at this moment on Facebook. Bitching, whining, moaning with a massive chip on their shoulder about the fact that local news are not showing their goals. Someone replies to them all, stating the fact that they do not have the rights to non-league goals, because BT sport have those rights. They completely ignore that poster and carry on claiming some sort of agenda from local media against them! They truely are a bunch of morons! Worse still, they have actually convinced themselves that they are a big club and fail to realise it's only by comparison, up against the likes of Dover, Dartford, Braintree, FGR..... Etc etc.

"ZERO CHANCE you will have of obtaining automatic promotion..." (Notice the use of "you", rather than "we":- significant ?). Even from this distance away from the action that statement is quite illogical. How can it possibly be said with any certainty that the rival teams mentioned are "under achieving"? Perhaps they are playing at their appropriate level. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, what's wrong with having a "hopeful dream" ?

No, ****em, they're in the best place possible. No I'm not kidding. I go to watch football...and there is nothing better than watching a local derby and winning. I don't give a toss about Rovers fans... I don't socialise with that many...and the one's I do, are knowledgeable and realistic football people. Football banter amongst fans doesn't effect me... I'd rather watch us beat them on the pitch, have a pint with my mates after and enjoy the afterglow, then read all about in the paper in the morning with a coffee and often look at us above them in the same league. Each to their own of course... I've never felt bitter towards them because they aren't in my life that often.
