Good Night For The Irish..

NI 2-0 in Greece, RoI 1-1 in Germany. The Scots a decent 2-2 in Poland, and Wales going well in their group.

Must be a generation thing, but always wish them all well in games of this sort, although certainly it is not felt the other way, at least by lots of Scots!

Flicking between the games, certainly no lack of passion on show. Imagining a young 19 year old ulster lad going up to his manager saying he was feeling a bit tired...

Might be reading this wrong, but the random football event of the day...Serbia v Albania abandoned as an Albanian flag gets dropped on the pitch by a mini helecopter, a Serbian player grabbed it, resulting in a fight between all the players.

Surely good odds on that?

The Ireland one clearly has some history, and respect some have strong feelings on it. Even by breeding being more green than orange myself I think I like to see N Ireland doing well best (guess its the underdog thing), then Wales, then for me RoI then Scotland.

Having worked in both Wales and NI, of course there are a few haters football wise, but an awful lot will make the effort to watch England in tourneys and not in a completly negative way. Kind of how I might watch Chelsea in Europe - not my team, but do not wish them any harm. Unfair to generalise an entire country, but met many more Scots who actively are cheering for the other team! Nonetheless, I still cheer for them. No idea why, bless their cotton socks!

That's about 2/16 more than half their players then...

That gave me chuckle...

Did you know: It emerged that despite Paul Cascarino playing multiple games for Ireland and scoring a good few goals as well he never had an Irish passport and the whole thing was a farce. An England legend (no trendy figure of speak required); Jackie Charlton, was 'responsible'.

It cracks me up, anyway. Must be my Irish blood. May I just say, Paddys I was with abroad in 2010 all supported England in South Africa. Cracking bunch of lads they were as well.

No hard feelings, but the Irish are ok with me.

**** the welsh, Scottish and Irish, they never wish us any goodwill and would always rather us lose, it's been like it for years and years so because of that I feel the same.

Hope none of them qualify

I never understand any of this sour crabby mindset. To me, rivalry just means wanting to be one better than the others, so

1 I'm happy to see the other British countries do well, as long as it's not against England ( though I'm half Welsh)

2 I like to see any British club do well in Europe - I don't support any of them, but have no reason to hate them

3 I'd generally rather see West Country clubs doing well, not badly. I'd be quite happy to see the three promotions from our league be BCFC, Swindon & Yeovil.

Hatred just comes from insecurity in my view.

It is entirely down to the anybody but England mindset that the Welsh and especially the Scots seem to revel in, Or have you forgotten the Jocks singing about Maradona and wearing Argie shirts only 4 years after the Falklands War. Maybe you are too nice Mate.

Northern Ireland fans want England to qualify for everything because they normally will not.

Before the 2005 World cup qualifier in Belfast England fans were asked to assemble at pubs on the route to Windsor Park. The local populace staged a parade in honour of the English support, and approaching kick off Orange marching bands escorted English fans to the stadium.

The generosity and friendliness has not been forgotten by those who made that trip.

That may be a rather naive viewpoint? Are we not talking about the Loyalist section of NI demonstrating their British affiliations to make an anti "Irish" point?

I'd rather see both sides joining together to support NI.
