PHILINFRANCE
Correct. It was on a 10 inch LP that I bought in the 1960's. On the flip side was the gag about the bricks on a pulley. I dont have it now. Hilarious. Interestingly, my favourite was 'The Bricklayer's Lament' - I forget who sang it now, but I seem to recall reading many years ago that it was written/first sung back in the 1950's by an Irish worker in Birmingham. The French widows was, for me, secondary to (just recalled it) Murphy and the Bricks - or something very similar.

slartibartfast
Anything to do with Gerard Hoffnung? I have heard his (hilarious) Oxford Union 'Bricklayer's Lament', also sung by several artists, and seem to recall he also spoke about French widows. He also did some brillant cartoons, The Orchestra was one.
Nogbad the Bad
He's 25 and not 26 till June. Came into the pro game at 22 after a year in USA completing his degree. Still learning......fast. Give him a break. May as well close OTIB down if we can't give our honest assessment of the players. Rest assured, like any other player in a City shirt Matt Smith will get my full support during matches. BTW if you're going to summarise his early career it's maybe worth mentioning that he was released by Cheltenham at 18.

Nogbad the Bad
Kevin Keegan was released by S****horpe at 18. It means sweet FA, the game is littered with players who were shown the door and ended up playing at the highest level. Anyhow, we'll see how it pans out for Smith. Don't think so. Keegan made his debut for S****horpe at 17 and went on to play 29 games that season. Then played in every game the next season. Agree we'll see how it pans out for Smith. samo II
Tom Nicholls just scored again for Exeter; that's nine in 21 games, and not all of them starts. Certainly hope we are watching this lad as a potential one for the future.
