22A
Looking back now, was that result a blessing in disguise? No cup run to tire the players and losing at home to Oxford just days after winning at Brammall Lane may have been just the wake up call needed so the players didn't think they'd walk this league? Numero Uno
The only thing with that is if they thought at that point they would walk the league they were right!!!
Numero Uno
One thing experience should have taught us is that if we are drawn at home in that competition next season then stay at home and save your money for more important games later in the season!! Strawberry2157.
That was actually the only game I watched this season where we deserved to loose.
red mist
No JPT next season, so a league cup run would not be so much of a problem and utilize the squad which will probably have a few more players
cottsciderarmy
Realistically next year the League Cup is exactly the type of tournament we should be trying to get as far as we can in. The Premier League teams don't take it seriously and no reason why we couldn't go on a good run in it.
MichaelRobartes
This was a horrible game but I'd have settled for one cup win, one good run and one abject exit at the start of the season.
East End Old Boy
I've seen us play in two league cup semi-finals, so hoping third time lucky!

SuperRed
Looking back at the team we put out in the Oxford game, you realise how fortunate we have been to have our strongest team available in pretty much every game. 5 of the players in that side have hardly featured this season and most of them have been out on loan. Aizoon
I'm pretty sure Strawberry is a 'her'. In which case we can, of course, disregarded her opinion

WessexPest
Whereas last season we beat a Prem team in the League Cup and the rest of the season was unremitting mince. Funny old game, as the man once said.

No cup run to tire the players and losing at home to Oxford just days after winning at Brammall Lane may have been just the wake up call needed so the players didn't think they'd walk this league? I've just said the same on another thread & also thrown in the Colchester away game where I felt in the first half there was an element of players taking the opposition for granted. Look at the reaction Cotts got from the players after HT in that game, won the second half 2-0, won the next 5 straight & 15 unbeaten
