Part of the decleration deal was Yorks were to keep going for it even when it was impossible. Middlesex coach admitted it.

Oh well. Roll on April..

Yep, go again in April. There are a lot of bright spots from this year TBF, not least our young spinners who are a joy to watch.

Gonna miss Buck though.

We'd do the same I have no doubt but yes it's close to matchfixing really!

Not at all. Match fixing is where there is some agreement to achieve a particular result. All Middlesex and Yorkshire did was get to a position where a declaration was possible and a result could be achieved for either side based on good, hard, fair cricket. All cricket teams do it, including Somerset. Don't see the point of all the sour grapes tbh.

Somerset have had a good season and a brilliant last two games. Their basic trouble was that they didn't do enough earlier on in the season and only went into the last round of games in third place. Middlesex have been at the top for most of the season, the best team and fully deserve their Championship.

oh dear, how sad, never mind .

Careful slarti, they'll start drawing comparisons to Glos and the Gas again.

Congratulations Middlesex, it's hard to argue that over the course of the season they aren't worthy winners.

Commiserations Somerset, at least you were still in with a shout with an hour of the entire season remaining.

Basically Yorkshire were bowling under arm for 4/5 overs to allow Middlesex to get to a already agreed pathetic total of 240!!

A whole season came down to a farce of a last session ! Joke

So Somerset (or any other county) have never contrived to make a game heading for a draw ,into a result one way or another ?

Still, at least we're not bumping around near the bottom of the lower division year on year with absolutely no sign of getting out of it, eh?

Graham, as a City fan, you must know how a defeat for the scum at Whorefield cheers one up ?

WE are shite (certainly, red ball) and we know we are, it's called  schadenfreude !

Comparisons aplenty....we're pretty crap and we have tents on our ground (sometimes)

At least we don't pretend to be massive and better than that lot "down the road" ! :P

Was a really strange day at Taunton yesterday, for most of the day it actually looked like we might do it, 240 off 40 looked tight and hoped they keep wickets in hand then fall short.

Was talking to Trescothick he went for a sleep mid afternoon, he hadn't seen the latest score at this point and didn't want to know it.

Players obviously getting nervous as they had a game of football on the pitch at one point.

It was strange how many people were so tense they were sat in the ground staring into the distance.

Was great to speak to Lavendar, Abell, Bess, Hildreth (reckons he could play in 3 weeks), Rogers (said he was surprised so many there yesterday) and Ian Blackwell, there is real passion to go one better next season.

So by taking a draw out of the equation, Yorkshire and Middlesex showed a massive disrespect to the game of Cricket, and to Somerset.

Two Yorkshire batsmen had bowling figures combined of 11 overs for 120 runs.

I am a little confused, if this is not a rigged cricket match what does one actually look like, as it seems OK to plan and arrange a 240 from 40 overs target in advance.

The next Spirit of Cricket Lecture at Lords should be cancelled.

Big problems up at Durham - another victim of paying too much for England internationals ?

isn't alot of their problems caused by chester le street being used for test matches? I thought I read somewhere that they lose money every time one is hosted
