ciderup
He's a more than decent player, particularly at the level we are at but doesn't fit the criteria of the majority of our signings so I seriously doubt it will happen, but, the reaction of the blue few would be hilarious!! ballwinningcentrehalf
He would be a sensational signing for us. However, doubt it would happen. Even if we could pay his wages I reckon he's the type of character that would deliver us a Flint style 'no no no' to stay onside with the Gas supporters. Would be great if it did happen though. Robbored
There could be something in it, after all Cotterill does like to have core of experienced players in his squad. That said Lamberts wages could be a stumbling block.
RedRoss
This is delusional! He was linked with Aston Villa in January but stayed to fight his place at Liverpool and recently linked with Newcastle. He will have better offers than us for sure. Just because we've gone up a league and played impressive football doesn't make us competition for signatures immediately against prem teams. Marina's Rolls Royce
Bristol City chief executive John Pelling says it is inevitable the club will be the subject of heightened transfer speculation now they are back in the Championship. Promoted as runaway League One champions last season, the Robins are gearing up for life back in the English second tier after an absence of two years. Owner Steve Lansdown is prepared to fund new signings and manager Steve Cotterill and director of football Keith Burt are actively pursuing a number of prime targets. City's elevation has caused the club to be linked with far more players than when they were in the third tier and the customary close-season rumour mill has been working overtime. But Pelling, pictured, claims being at the centre of increased transfer speculation is an inevitable price of success and expects City to be linked with numerous players between now and the close of the transfer window in early September. A majority of transfer speculation originates with football agents, many of whom use the media to circulate the names of their clients in the hope of generating offers from clubs. An experienced football administrator, who previously worked for Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest, Pelling insists clubs must wise up to their methods. He told the Bristol Post: "As a well-financed club, we do tend to be linked with a lot of players. "Now that we are in the Championship, we have to expect to be linked with various players a lot more often. That is just part and parcel of operating at this level. "We understand that agents want to put players' names out there in the public domain and we have to accept that is going to happen. It is difficult for fans, it is difficult for clubs and it is a problem for journalists. It is something we all have to deal with." Owing to Lansdown's billionaire status, City have been linked with more players than at any other time since slipping out of the Championship in 2013. But rumours without foundation can prove problematic for clubs trying to negotiate deals. Pelling said: "Agents like to play clubs off against one another. That is part of what they do when they are in negotiations. "They are middle men in a market who do not necessarily deal in the truth! "If we see that another club is linked with a player we are interested in, then we have to contact them and find out, firstly, if there is any truth in it and, if so, how far things have gone. That is the way things are these days and, when stories come out in the media, people have to realise how agents work."

I think he's a Liverpool/Bristol city fan as we are always the ones he talks about.
