stortfordred
Ok. First things first .... The football. City lined up in a 3-5-2 just like last season and those of you who weren't there would have pretty much have recognised business as usual. The new keeper was different but in stature no different from Fielding and looked reasonably confident but under little pressure. City had a lot of the ball from the back and for the first 25 minutes or so looked fairly neat if lacking in penetration. However the chances were few and far between and those that did come fell to wilbraham who just needed too much time. City rather overused the long diagonal ball to Bryan on the left but on the other hand he did get some change from their right back. As had been mentioned game was a little feisty at times and altho freeman will never be the biggest the fact that he has bulked up meant that he won most of his battles. Overall defence looked comfortable until the goal which is 2 seconds that Luke Ayling will want to forget. Keeper could have done nothing to keep it out. Now for the on pitch negatives..,Burns looked well off the pace and I am afraid we will struggle big time in the Championship with him and Wilbs up front. The other big negative was Cunningham on the right. Whoever dreamed that one up?? Overall we were a tad predictable and without signings of a significant nature.... Now for the real problem which could also haunt us next season which was the behaviour of about ten or twenty of our so called fans. Hopefully they were only there because they have already been banned from the Gate but they were a total embarrassment to Bristol City in particular and England in general. One or two funny moments but it was toe curling for the rest of the time. I took a friend along and he could not believe what was going on. I won't glorify it with description but suffice to say the villa match was called off with good reason.
Londoner
Like another poster said, Burns wasn't a regular in league 2....do the thought of him playing regularly (at the moment we have no choice) atChamp level is worrying.

Port Said Red
We have to bear in mind that it was a training match, not a competitive game from our perspective. Its for players to get match fit so its natural that some will be off the pace or need extra touches that they didn't need during league games last season. It was a training game, nothing more than that. Not living up to your name once again . I think you should change it to "Perspective" as in you actually have a sense of one :
stortfordred
You needed to be there. Players were pi$$ed off too. As I said couple of classic funny moments but the 'hero' who ran on to assault their left back after a foul on Joey would have caused you to 'over react' too. JoeAman08
I'm all for the lads having a great time but stay off the pitch. It's really that simple. The players don't want you there. The ref doesn't want you there. The coaches don't want you there. It's not for you its for the football

One BCFC
As I have said before Burns is no where near Championship standard I am all for academy talent when its genuine but hopefully we sign a few strikers and he is loaned out again. Marina's Rolls Royce
As I have said before Burns is no where near Championship standard I am all for academy talent when its genuine but hopefully we sign a few strikers and he is loaned out again. I thought Burns looked fantastic at the end of season before last. All the games I saw him play last season really disappointed me. So he was partially used at Oxford and then at Cheltenham who were relegated into non league. At what point does another loan move become pointless if he's not going to even challenge from the bench at City? I haven't seen him in any pre season games so far so I'm only going on what I saw months ago and what I've read. Should have had a Bunn fight. (I hang my head in shame if that's already been done). Didn't Red Dave do that one as well, Fordy?
