Judging from the reluctance of SC to give Max any praise at all and his comment after being asked if Max will play Tuesday of "what choice do I have", I would think he will be frantically phoning around to see if he can get an experienced keeper on loan if Frank is not available. He could have given Max a bit of public encouragement other than something along the lines of "aside from letting in two goals he did ok". I thought what he had to say about him was poor management. He really needs to get a grip after games or let someone else do the interviews.

He always comes across like a petulant child if we don't win , that's why so many people outside our club don't like him .

If that's true (and Im certainly not doubting you Cynic, I just haven't seen / heard it) then it's a complete and utter disgrace. Wtf is wrong with the bloke? Young city supporting keeper making his first team debut in front of 24k crowd in a high pressure situation. From what I could see I thought he did well. Absolute joke from SC. If he isn't happy with the goalkeeping cover its his job to sort it out. More time from SC on the running of the club and less time bitching and moaning would really help right now.

He did say all that, but his tone was obviously tongue in cheek. He was sort of chuckling when he said it.

I think Steve is pretty protective of his players and certainly won't be unhappy with any of them in the wake of that performance.

Fair play RR cheers for clarifying. Like I said didn't hear or see it myself.

Sure he has or will had a chat with Max about his performance which he'll take far more seriously than what he says to some journalist when he's still reeling about the equaliser.

I hate his petulance and I said in the summer it wouldn't wash with our fans but come on, it's hardly got anything to do with his man management.

Although Max did really well, my slight concern would be that he performed without nerves because he didn't have time to think about it. If he's put into the first team in advance will his mind play tricks with him? Of course I don't know the young fella and he may be one of those people who don't get nervous in pressure situations like this would be at this point in his young career. Whatever, very best of luck to him, it's great to see the youngsters given a chance.

Danny Ward recalled by Liverpool? Been doing great north of the border and maybe they'd rather he played in England and knew we were interested? Wouldn't mind that at all!

Think that's more due to Bogdan being crap so they need a keeper right now.

So looks like FF maybe out a while.

WBA have a nice array of bench warmers - Foster only played once this season (i.e. Saturday), Lindegaard.

Cardiff have loanned out Joe Leiws so not avaliable and you'd imagine Moore is required for the Bench.

God I hope not Foster, I mentioned to my friend at half time when O'Leary came on I wonder if Forster wants to play Tuesday, then he had a shocker in the second half.

Think we might have been looking to buy a permanent one sooner or later anyway

Yes, but this doesn't give us much time, does it?

Looking through the Prem, a couple of veterans who can't get a game are Speroni (as mentioned) & Davis at Southampton. Ryan Allsop (3rd choice at Bournemouth) and the Danish keeper at West Brom Tomarse said apart, there aren't too many obvious candidates..

For a short term loan

Shay Given ?

Recently back from injury, not gonna oust Butland and needs game time thinking towards Euros

Pretty sure he's still injured.

Some Danish guy was in goal for Stoke in the FA cup with Butland sat on the bench, can't believe Given wouldn't have been at least on the bench if fit.

True we maybe be forced to move rather than wait, but I suppose I was thinking we may have one of those irons in the fire already if we were looking. That said I guess it's a different list of keepers we might be able to sign than the list of those available for loan.

It's a shame in a way if Max doesn't play, he trains with the team so knows the defence well. I remember when Hamer came in he made some howlers in the first couple of games, we can't afford that now. I recall when Benny L gave Steve Phillips his chance (that was in the Championship) when he was a youngster and he did really well that season.

or maybe it's a big ploy to put off PNE - and FF is actually going to be ok?

PNE supporters seem to think we are trying to thrash out a deal for Sam Johnstone who's on loan at Deepdale from Man U.

Saw some stuff on this that we'd bid £2m but ManUre wanted £3m. Very good GK so obviously wont be coming here!! :mf_sleep:

Could be interesting tomorrow for him then. If we thrash out a deal and sign him on loan so that he can play, home dressing room. If we don't, away dressing room.

Danny Ward, Liverpool.

Can't see it being him.  He was recalled prior to Frankie's injury, and surely is cover for Mignolet, with Bogdan losing confidence.

O'Donnell, good solid keeper.  Was someone I thought we should've attempted to get in the summer before he went to Wigan.  Good shout @CITYAREREDANDWHITE

No idea if it is him though.

What time does he have to sign by? Is it 12?

If it was a perm, it was midday today but on loan, I haven't a clue. Midday tomorrow? The only way any new keeper could play tomorrow is on loan and having a permanent player signing on loan seems a bit wierd but needs must eh!

We could even get our visitors to bring him down to Bristol for us. ;)

I doubt he'd even consider us, Preston is his hometown and he was there last year aswell

The PNE fans seem to think Man U want a permanent deal. PNE don't, we do.

I'm only repeating what is on their forum by the way.

According to a couple of 'papers Paul Robinson is up for grabs as a back up keeper and Forest are sniffing around him.

Now he would be a class guy to have around to help and guide Max and Frank...only 36 years old and now without a club after being released by Blackburn...

Agree with that but we need a keeper that is fit to play tonight.

I've heard you're right and he's signed on an emergency loan. Expect to see him this evening!

Interesting if true.

He was highly rated at Walsall with a number of clubs (including us) rumoured to be after him in the summer.

He chose Wigan but his time there so far hasn't gone well and he lost his place to Jaaskelainen a few months ago.

Big chance for him, I'd suggest we are looking at the goalkeeping situation anyway to avoid this happening again if Fielding got injured.

Really? Presumed we'd be in for keepers at this level or above who aren't getting game time not emergency loans from L1!

But goalkeepers are different. He's playing second fiddle to Jussy Jaskaleinen (wow that's hard to spell).

Dont lose sight of the the fact that we all thought he was a good keeper last season and many wanted him to join us from Walsall.

Well Chard actually but City supporter too

Mainly because it's a bit of a risk to throw him in. Hopefully one day he'll be our number one but it's a big ask for him right now. Puts a bit more psychological pressure on our defence too which they really do not need.

Just read that O'Donnell is cup tied, so presumably Max O'Leary will get the West Brom game, unless we've made a permanent signing of yet another keeper by then, which is very unlikely I'd have thought.

Frank could equally be back by then. O'Donnell is indeed cup-tied.
