You'll be lucky to be offered any, if you're not a regular. I say that from experience.

My one and only experience of coach one was our promotion season, Crawley away, last away game. Was on the coach the day the Gas went non league. It was great! Seriously. Bit weird at first when they started making tea and coffee onboard and everyone had brought their own mugs, but they found paper cups for us and we were made very welcome, they shared everything. It was one old boys birthday and they bought a coach load of doughnuts, I fully expected to be left out and made myself busy with my phone to avoid embarrassment, but we got a doughnut each.

they even handed around a tin of celebrations chocolates on the way back as soon as we heard the Gas news, played loud music on the way back and had a right party on there. Would I go again, absolutely!

Either I'm misreading your post, our you have the seasons muddled up. Last away game last year was doing the conga at Chesterfield.

Rovers went non-league in 2014, when we were indeed away to Crawley.

Obviously travelling on coach 1 does things to your mind/memory! :shocking::rofl2br:

Just found this nugget in the archives. 2 years old but I guess it gives a similar perspective as others...

Germ of a quote from that thread...

"

See now I'm really confused! Do I gamble and sit on coach 1 and take the chance of being gang raped while listening to banjos or try and get on different coach..?"

What's wrong with banjo music.

You're right, after reading the section 82 thread today my brain is fuddled! Maybe I should try to book another trip, there are things that I'd love to be able to forget.

Psst, bring your own wheel nuts and if you have a tyre hanging around with a bit of tread still on it, you will be most welcome if you take it along, they've struggled along for half the season with a front nearside wheel missing, the regulars are a bit fed up of all piling in on the rear right hand corner trying to balance the bloody thing up a bit... Some people have got 'very friendly' apparently while taking advantage of the situation and the occasional unwary stranger though.

I worked for z cars in the early eighties and drove coach one to I think it was Darlington, I have never been the same since, and still having therapy!

We used to use CATS all the time back in the 80's, always liked it when we got a z cars coach ( or the mad Frier/Fryer (?) one.) Never got on the elusive coach One though, and no never been to Darllington either.

One season didn't Z cars  set up a rival service as you lost the contract to Peter Carol? We ditched CATS and had some great away days, must be all of 25 years ago.

Yes you are right, I was part time and used to get the jobs no one else wanted. I remember one dark dreary Saturday driving right up north after being told I could watch the match, only to be escorted to an industrial estate miles away which made avonmouth look like stoke bishop. ....ah the memories!!

@Izza, you do get told which seats to sit in though, the regulars all have their own places and like to sit with their friends. Like I said the moment they all produce their various mugs and china cups is a bit strange, no a lot strange. Think hot drinks were something like 20p a cup, but we had a free one on the way back as the Gas were relegated!

I thought they would be a bit 'bad luck, sorry to hear you were relegated' towards the Gas, but they absolutely hate them, really slagging them off, it was quite funny.

Its an experience you won't forget!

This happens on coach 2 as well.

We are OK and now on our way back. I accepted the biscuit on the way up as it was still in its wrapper, thank you very much for that. The offer of tea though I did turn down for fear of rohipnol :nono:

Whatever you do, don`t nod off on the way back, that`s when you`re at your most vulnerable.

How do we know this is really Izza, and not someone on coach one who has got hold of his phone? :fear:
