1960maaan
Strange thing is , I can't remember him being so obvious about it last year. Maybe it's because others are doing it less , or that he's not been bossing games like he can. Needs to get his head around it soon. We have a squad that will cope without him , but I want him available for every game.

I agree we need him on the pitch every game, he is the heartbeat of the team and on his day one of the best players in the league. I think he may be frustrated at himself just now as he is not quite on song yet but I am sure he soon will be.
havanatopia
He is a maverick, that is partly why he is so good, a match winner; with it comes unpredictability and a short fuse. It is an absolute normal trait for such a talent. The club knows it and will hopefully learn to live with it if they are not already; the sooner the fans do and embrace it positively the better otherwise if he loses the crowd he will suffer and so will the team. Of course his suspension will come, only a matter of when. Life will go on, we will miss him, more than once this season, and for the same reasons. Alex_BCFC
He is going to get himself sent off soon - we can live with him missing a game or two but not going down to ten men in a game. Just got to learn to shut up. Really good to see refs clamping down on it this season in general though.

Spot on - and if he carries on like this you can see it happening and three points lost every time. I was screaming for him to be signed over the summer but am massively underwhelmed right now. Notwithstanding the Villa free kick, of course......more of that, Lee, and less mouth.

What's frustrating about it is that it's completely controllable, it's not like he tackles too hard and gets yellows which is harder to remove from your game - persistent needless dissent is something you shouldn't expect from a pro at this level. If necessary he should see a sports psychologist to stop it altogether. We didn't pay £3m for him to be a disciplinary risk, we need him on the pitch. pongo88
It's crazy that this season referees have been told to crack down on this sort of behaviour, and he gets worse. I hope he hasn't started using gas logic.

They were going nowhere till Baker got sent off then they walked the second half and got two goals. And at least Baker got them for playing hard, not for whining and bitching. Yep, Rooney on Saturday was shown a yellow card for a foul, he turned round to the referee and shouted '**** off' as he was booked, referee ignored it. If he'd have had any balls he'd have shown him a second yellow. All very well having the rules but if the referees are too weak to enforce them, then the battle's already lost. Back to Tomlin - ridiculous to be so close to a suspension already purely for dissent, talking too needed. Needs to keep a lid on it and if he can't do that then start fining him! If the FA are indeed serious about dissent, can they not prove it by dealing with the Rooney incident retrospectively? I am well aware that they will not, but is it within their power, should they wish to actually enforce their own rulings?Presumably in this case they can not play the "ref dealt with it at the time" get out of jail free card,as the ref clearly chose not to deal with it at the time. I'm sure it's possible to be a talent without behaving like a twerp. Why on earth should the fans embrace it? It's the referee who has the final say, anyway…plus the away fans will get on his back…

How do you think Mr Scudamore is going to explain that embarrassing eventuality to the global brand clubs/global brand multinationals/corporate world/the financial times/world media?
