Not like we have just that in the brightest young English striker available right now.

We've got one of those (Abraham). What we need are a) a couple of wingers who can set him up with some chances, and b) a striker who can score from outside the box - someone in the Dwight Gayle or Jordan Rhodes mould.

Ok . Two up top for me. I know Tammy is good. A poacher maybe?

Matt Smith as always mentioned and linked with us. Obviously not a forward , I like Bradley Dack

Don't think Matt Smith is quite good enough for the quality of side we aspire to be. Think we'd want someone a bit more mobile and better technically. Someone like Leroy Lita when he was at Reading would be ideal.

Not seen enough of Dack to comment really. Think we're ok for central midfield players right now. A forward is a must for me, a right back too - maybe a left back and keeper also. We must bring in another forward in January though, I'm sure we will.

I'm with you on the above post. I would think those clubs willing to sell would've put the feelers out already. Homework done I thinks I expect LJ to act quickly when the windows opening

Same. I wouldn't be surprised if we bring in another wide attacking midfielder of genuine quality, pace and trickery. Not convinced by the options we have right now, all of our current wide players have to improve if we are to establish ourselves in the top half.

Wouldn't be surprised if its someone from France or Spain and costs a couple of million.

My son reckons Tammy ain't scored outside of ten yards. He is a fox poacher then. What type do we need alongside him if we go two up top?

Unless he's playing for England U21's.

Lovely 1 on 1 then dink the keeper....18 yards???

If only we could give through balls like that.

We need to watch the re-run of beating Fulham 4-0 every day this week.  That'll get the confidence of the forward players flowing.

A lot of managers and pundits often say this, but I'm sure we're going to give someone an absolute hammering soon.

Fingers crossed it'll be this Saturday.

It does say it all. We can't score anywhere near enough. To top that we are playing so narrow Tammy can hardly get a decent ball.

The fact we cant score at the moment from midfield when playing five in midfield albeit sitting one or two in front of a back four (back 6?) is not just depressing is an indictment of the lack of goals in a side that arguably has the best striker in the division

I won't bang on about who has missed the majority of our chances recently as the obvious is often deemed as offensive on here but does raise the issue of why anyone scoring one against us is gauranteed a draw and what's happened since August September.

LJ time for a rethink?

And for me that speaks volumes. We do create chances...we just haven't been putting them away as regularly recently.

People talk about changing tactics and personnel...that's not the answer. The answer is putting those chances we create away. A little more composure...a little bit of luck etc.

We are good going forward...I would say it's our defence that needs tightening more.

The cover for our defence has often been a problem from midfield. Especially down our right hand side.

This is the biggest weakness in our team...everything down our right hand side.

Tighten that up, and we should start winning again.

The goals conceded at Brum and Reading both came following attacks down our left side.

Reading...1 was a penalty. The second came from players on our right, not following and marking the goal scorer, who came in on the right hand side of the box.

The Brum goal was from a corner.

Think you're missing the point here Frenchay ;-)

Missing the point? Not  really.

Bryan (on our left) shanked a clearance at Brum. Resulting in a corner from which they scored.

Reading pen, such as it was, came from Magnusson getting a bit caught for pace from a central/our left position, and the second came from an attack down our left side.

Just for clarity our left side is the opposition's right side.  Hope that helps ;-)

Blimey...talk about clutching at straws FR. Would love to see you pile the blame on JB and HM for those goals in the dressing room. You'd be laughed at in your face. With respect I suggest you look at the bigger picture and not a shank or two bodies colliding in the penalty area as the reasons for conceding. ;-)

:dunno:Frenchay Red's not clutching at straws at all, he's given a clear explanation and he's obviously right!

I'm not the one clutching at straws.

Who's blaming anyone? No bigger picture, just pointing out left from right.

I suspect you are alluding to Little and Paterson not being defensively good enough? Well maybe, but Bryan and Tomlin didn't exactly inspire confidence in those two games either.
