LJ XI vs non LJ XI

So, it's well documented that LJ has been well backed in the market. Ridiculously so. Ridiculously to the degree that the squad looks bloated. We have a problem and rather than addressing the problem, we've just thrown further money at it.

Now, I'm going to suggest the squad is big enough to put together an LJ XI versus a non LJ XI. But I'm not going to do all the work...

My non LJ XI... 4-3-1-2

Fielding

Bryan

Flint

Vulnerable**

Little

Freeman

Smith

Pack

Reid

Wilbs

Tammy*

*NB I'm borrowing Tammy cos otherwise I can't put out a team.

**NB im also going to leave in this genius autocorrect for Vyner at centre half!

Anyone care to give the LJ XI a bash? I imagine it'll be easier.

When you consider the players that LJ has been allowed to bring in, doesn't it make our situation even more shambolic?

Being devils advocate how much input does LJ have in who we sign, does he have total control or is it Ashton who rules the roost, genuine question as I'm not really sure.

Tbh our recruitment I think has been good, Ashton cannot be blamed.

Churchill once said to the US : 'give us the tools and we'll finish the job'

Johnson has failed to do his end of the bargain.

Dare I say it, but it's starting to get like it did in the last year his Dad was manager. Massive squad, players just bought in for the sake of it, different team every week etc.

No I realise that but I was actually asking who decides who we buy, does LJ tell MA who he wants and then MA does all the negotiations or does MA have a lot more input, ps totally agree that LJ hasn't done his job and imo it is down to constantly changing team and formation

Everyone now forgets yet another one of LJ's 18 signings, Jonny Smith from Wrexham, who several posters were confidently telling me would be challenging for the first team this season.

Last I saw of him he was an unused sub for the U21s.

No mention yet of another one of his, Joel Ekstrand, either.

Fordy, your original non LJ team could have had big Arnie Garita up front...

Still, no one else will be joining us now until tomorrow, apparently.

...wasn't Tomlin signed by Pemberton (last season)?  Does that count?

McCoulsky up front?

@Fordy62 you can play one striker?

Which areas of the squad specifically are 'bloated'?

Exactly...can you imagine the trouble we would have been in, if our previous manager had had the same amount of injuries to key players, with that small squad. We had some real luck that season with few injuries.

Yep, a load of luck plus we had the emergency loan market to dip into as and when required.

Can't see a lot wrong with the current squad size.
