I think Lee was being too protective of some players, talk of players being "fresh" or "being energetic", I think he felt periods of rest was the way to get that. I think one thing he may have learned is there is no substitute for playing to improve stamina. I don't agree about the signings and the lack of them in the starting line-up in recent games, because, as derided as the phrase has become, several of the summer signings were never expected to make an impact this season.
