WhistleHappy
Used Brislinton P&R .. busy but no probs. How did you get to the game (did you make it there and back ok?) .. any disaster stories?
Vespa Red
Got the train from Severn Tunnel Junction to Bristol Parkway...no problems. Rail replacement bus service from Bristol Parkway to Bristol Temple Meads...no problems. Same with the return journey. My only (small) gripe was that there was no train from Temple Meads to Parson Street and back that corresponded. But, hey ho. Nice day for a walk

Coppello
Got on a train at London Paddington at 8am. Thirty minutes into the journey they announced that the train would no longer be stopping at Bristol Temple Meads or Bath Spa and were advising people to continue on until Taunton and then get the train back up to Bristol. Safe to say that my journey was awful...
REDPJ
Traveled from Cornwall Saturday night - stayed with my son in Bristol. M32 Sunday morning, very little traffic. No parking problems, breakfast in Sainsbury's. Worked well!
Ealing Robin
With it being Sunday morning other roads were very clear, coming from Cheltenham went down the M32 then looped round to eventually pick up the new ring road. Very easy indeed.
Super
Ring road onto Bath Rd then to the ground. One of the easiest journeys of the season.
Slippin cider
Got the P&R from Portway and can only describe it as quite possibly the longest journey ever undertaken to AG! ...it turned into a sightseeing tour of just about every part of Bristol! ...the first bus went via M5 and A369 ...not us ...we went back down the Portway....across the downs...down park st...past BRI ...then had a tour of Broadmead and on to Victoria st and down a side street...three point turn (no easy task in a double decker) and back out to Redcliff hill ....Bedminster bridge then past Asda and on into North st and eventually Ashton via duckmoor road etc to winterstoke road and after nearly an hour we arrived at The Robins ...as the bus was packed it all started off well but soon people were getting a bit miffed at our mystery tour of Bristols suberbs and a huge cheer went up as we were dropped off. ...the driver said he didn't know the way via the M5 and A369 but clearly knew every other route possible to get to AG ! ... ...can't complain about value for money though ...for £4 it was a bargain! ...only thing missing was a running commentary and history lesson! ... ForeverRed
Already posted this in the other travel thread, but here goes............ Caught the 71 to the Centre as planned and knew that it would be rerouted around Fairfax, Redcliffe Sreet and Coronation Road. But nobody had told the driver, and he then took the bus up Park Row and down Jacobs Wells Road to find it shut at the bottom. Did a 3 point turn and then went back up and left into Clifton village, where we ended up going down Constitution Hill (not recommended in a double decker), to the bottom of Jacobs Wells again. At this stage, everyone got off and walked!! First Bus.......Please tell your drivers where to go!!
Admin phantom Posted May 8, 2017 Admin Report Share Posted May 8, 2017 Got the 09:08 from WSM - train was 3 carraiges Was almost full when it pulled into WSM, by the time it left with approx 200 people train had people stood After Milton and Worle it was back to back standing all through the train - luckilly at Yatton and Nailsea only a handful waiting to get on, and a couple got off so people were able to squeeze on Bus from Worle onwards it was a real problem getting people onboard - to be fair to GWR they only had 11 months to plan the extra rolling stock Nice to be welcomed by 10/12 BTP recording people as they walked up the steps to the main road But will be delighted for them when they advertise all the extra capacity for the Bath Xmas market again !! Got the 19:10 home from Parson Street even by then there was a busy train for a Sunday night

Some people are just thick. How could a bus driver not know the way to Ashton Gate. He would take a minute to look at the map and and plot this route via the Avonmouth bridge, it does beggars belief. RUSSEL85
Cycled from Shire to AG, pretty pleasant apart from riding past the Water Station under the bridge whilst the 10k was taking place to which I got pelted with 3 water bottles........by accident.....I hope

Robbored
Drove to Long Ashton to my mates house. In view of the predictions of traffic chaos we were going to go bus but decided to walk to AG via the cycle path. Lovely stroll there and back and took about 30 mins each way and comes out just below the Ashton pub. I know it's a cycle path but the number of cyclists who have no bells on their bikes was a bit of a surprise especially when they sped past from behind you............ JamesBCFC
Walked from kingswood. Took about 30 minutes longer than normal to cross the roads near the harbourside and then close to the ground a policeman seemed intent on taking as long as possible to turn a van around, blocking the path as much as he could. Entered the Dolman turnstyle the final pre match track started. Got to my seat in the South Stand as "One for the Bristol City" ended.
RUSSEL85
Your comparing an 11 mile round to journey to 200 miles? . Its good to be fair, just follow the portway, over the cumberland basin, need to walk down some stairs then straight through the park. On a nice day its quality and you can a have a couple of ciders too

cider-manc
Set off ridiculously early from my folks house in Stafford. Arrived in 2 hours and parked up about 2 minutes from the ground.... Then had 2 and half hours to kill... Which when you can't spend that time drinking cider is a lot more difficult than I thought! Journey home was a nightmare however as pretty much every 50 miles an hour section through roadworks had someone broken down in it.
cidercity1987
Drove from Charlton Hayes to Gordano Services in 10 minutes. Then 50+ minutes in a queue along the A369, street parking then 5 minutes walk, job done.

Also caught the 71,driver had to phone up to find out which way to go,didn't take much longer than usual in the end.Must say that most buses going down Glos rd had loads of City fans on them,it doesn't seem that the window lickers have a heartland anymore,we're everywhere.
