Dollymarie Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 With a new season upon us, the Bristol City Supporters Club & Trust is delighted to let you know that after two seasons of temporary arrangements we have now have a long-term matchday ‘home’. The new SC&T bar is on the first floor of the Sports Bar & Pizzeria (in space previously earmarked for a museum). As you can see from the photo below, it has been starting to take shape over the last couple of weeks and for the speed with which that has been achieved special thanks are due to Mark Kelly and Ross Wormald of Ashton Gate Limited, who have pulled out all the stops to help us get the bar ready in time for Saturday’s game. Not all fixtures and fittings will be in place on Saturday, but the bar will be open for business. So come along and see how it’s looking so far. Then enjoy seeing the final look evolve over the next couple of weeks. Access to the bar is via the Sports Bar & Pizzeria (doors on the corner of South and Lansdown Stands). You then go through the main bar and up the stairs at the far end, as though you were heading to the loos. Our bar is on your left at the top of the stairs (the lift takes you straight there as well). As in previous years, the bar is open to all qualifying members on a first come, first served basis (i.e. until capacity is reached). To check which levels of membership qualify for use of the bar and to join or re-join, please visit the Membership Page on our website. http://bristolcitysupporters.org/supporter-info/ If you have any questions about membership, want to check what level of membership you have or whether you are paid up, please contact our membership secretary, Mike Adams, at blagdonmike@gmail.com

True, but it would have been nice to see some old photos etc displayed for all to see. At the moment we've only got the Williams clock, minus it's hands I noticed last Friday.

It just needs a bit of a clean up first.

CyderInACan Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 I'm sure we've got Donnie Gillies' famous Tam O'Shanter, John Atyeo's England Caps and Steve Brooker's dustbin to put on display somewhere else in the stadium. Definitely worth a fiver (plus Gift Aid) of anyone's money.

Admin Phantom Posted August 4, 2017 Admin Posted August 4, 2017 Would have been nice to put it somewhere near where the players etc enter, they should realise this part of the club's history and the privilege it is for them to put on a Bristol City shirt

I'd say it's a more important part of our history than beating Liverpool away in the FA Cup and that is somehow given a huge space in the SS to help us remember it. A great result no doubt about it but not necessarily worthy of such a lasting memorial. Thst space would be much better served with a huge mural of this as a reminder to everyone that there very nearly was no Bristol City.
myol'man Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Dolly, slightly off topic, what is happening with the bar and balcony behind the new singing section?
Mkelly Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Work in progress but great joint effort from the Sc&t and the ops team. Good pressure from all in getting in over the line for tomorrow. Can only get better over the months

If you mean the mezzanine in the sports bar, that's for Lansdown Club members. It was all of last season as well.
Admin Phantom Posted August 4, 2017 Admin Posted August 4, 2017 Believe they mean the old area in the dolman stand, upstairs

Yes, but I meant more actual old stuff, not just graphic reprints as such. Even a collection of shirt designs from years gone by would be nice to see side by side.

Too quickly forgotten as there would be no new SC & T room or shiny new stadium without them The lack of recognition to them around the new stadium is an utter disgrace imho

Robbored Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 So the bar is the main downstairs bar or us there one in the new SC&T home?

There's one upstairs in the room. Tomorrow and Tuesday we have a temporary bar. The permanent one will be in before the Milwall game.

Dollymarie Posted August 4, 2017 Author Posted August 4, 2017 For what it's worth I personally agree that the AG8 plaque should be somewhere prominent. The weather has not been kind to it outside for all the years it's been up though, and we'd hate for it to be damaged any further. We need to contact the manufacturers as it is, to see if they can restore it to how it was when it was new.

We could also do with improving that godawful ending to the 'tore their contracts up so we could go on' song'. 'We're Bristol City, the City is ours' is a slight improvement on 'We're Bristol City, we're Championship' but only slight and the thing always seems to finish off like a damp squib.

This is my pic from last Summer and hardly that damaged it needs hiding away in a private room. If investigating condition/restoration why not place in storage rather than squirrel away to a private members room?

The old supporters bar in the Dolman I mean? I believe it was used as a mess room for the contractors on the build so is in a bit of a sorry state now but once tidied up, will the museum go there maybe?

That's in the South Stand concourse, not in a private room.

The information about the fact it needs some work doing to it came from the guys who took it down from its spot on the back of the Atyeo yesterday morning. Also, on the point about the "shiny new SC&T room," we have paid for that ourselves. Flooring, walls, furniture etc.
