Admin Phantom Posted October 17, 2017 Admin Posted October 17, 2017 The games will take place on a home and away basis, with the first legs between 9 and 11 November and the second legs between 12 and 14 November.
Red-Robbo Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Ireland (southern) have got to be in with a chance there. North of the border, I reckon their journey ends shortly.
Ska Junkie Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Sweden v Italy looks a good one. Unfortunately for both teams from Ireland, I would have to go Switzerland, Croatia, Denmark, Italy although I would love to see either / both Irish teams make it.
Dan Robin Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I'd be surprised if Switzerland didn't qualify. The other matches seems more balanced.
MichaelRobartes Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 That's probably the best draw we could have hoped for. Denmark are in good form and will be favourites though. Horrible draw for Northern Ireland but who knows.
Super Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I don't think that's a bad draw for either. Both wanted to avoid Croatia and Italy for sure.

I was actually commenting on a post relating to Ireland drawing the Swiss. Lucky I clocked the merge otherwise I would have ended up looking a little cuckoo.

Reckon you have gone cuckoo @wendyredredrobin - this thread hasn't been merged (It was updating as the draw was happening)
North London Red Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Sweden have been unlucky...they came through a group that included France and Holland, and their reward is a play off against Italy. I wouldn't rule Northern Ireland out, either. England managed to beat Switzerland home and away in Euro 2016 qualifying and the Swiss were poor in Portugal last week, and I think 11th is a generous world ranking for them (albeit these words could look a bit silly if they subsequently put loads of goals past Northern Ireland).

I might end up looking silly as well but the Swiss are a good side. They don't have a striker but they have good players throughout the rest of the team. I think it was going to plan last week for them until a very unlucky own goal just before half time. They didn't turn up second half and were well beaten but as long as they don't underestimate them they should have too much for NI.
One Team In Keynsham Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Bit of a bummer they changed the approach whereby unseeded teams were home for the 1st leg: in Dublin that week, and had the offer of a spare if I was about for the game.
One BCFC Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 But why is it seeded still? They all finished 2nd in their Groups which was seeded. FIFA just trying to justify their shocking ranking system which had Peru in 10th.
