The Official QPR v Bristol City Matchday Thread

Everyone is still so pumped up about Wednesday night that nobody has started a thread, in fact a few may have even forgotten that we have an important league game today.  No injuries reported, so may go with an unchanged team, but QPR might be fresher as they had no game in midweek.

We now need to put Manchester behind us over the festive period and think about challenging for a top 2 birth.  We also need to give Holloway a good stuffing, though he will be able to use the excuse that he has been beaten by a side capable of beating the Manure.

Lee Johnson has bought a bottle ofBlue Nun to share with hollowhead after the game, however many we put past them.

Keep an eye on the other top fixtures.  Wolves at home to Ipswich, Cardiff at Bolton and Villa v Sheff Utd at 5.30 on the telly.

Donny have a fairly easy game at the Mem today and wil hopefully go home with 3 points and a hatful of goals.

Let’s hope it’s not “after the Lord Mayors Show” today.

I’m currently sat outside Kings Cross station awaiting a present exchange with a London based relly. It’s grey and cold. But Wednesday is still keeping me warm inside.

Qpr can play decent football and will be no mugs. The wind seems to have come out of the R's since Colin was last there. Still lots of R's fans in West London but they struggle to get good crowds. Traditionally they saw Chelsea and Fulham as rivals but they are now being overtaken by Brentford. They are looking for a new ground, with a move to Wormwood Scrubs in planning. Traditionally a big Irish area, but now more East European and Arab/east African dominance, as you will notice in The Uxbridge Road. A lot of the traditional fan base have moved out to the suburbs. A case study how mega rich owners who have no emotional tie ti the club and treat a club as a plaything can really drag a club down. Holloway under massive pressure. Caulker coukd make the bench.

You have saved me the delights of my Saturday mornings Wendy. :sad26:

I was midst writing about White City while listening to Nights in White Satin while drinking a White Russian dressed in my white dressing gown and wondering whether Mum's outside wall should be painted white. None of that matters when we are all Reds. The thread can wait for the return fixture.

There can only be one result today.

On the train to the match. Not expecting a Man U performance today, but if we can just match the level against Forest last Sat that might well be enough. Hoping the confidence from beating Man U trumps tiredness. Be happy with a draw.

Controversial .

An oblique attack on the doyen of the matchday thread makers . How will it all end ?

I predict that we will give them one up the R's with a thumping win .

I'm quite happy reading Hav's opening gambit to the match day threads, and I'm thankful that Hav does it.

Its just the bum licking for the entire first page that gets my goat.

Not from me. I agree. More and more it has drifted off topic to the point I always skip reading the first post and move to the on topic debate. Good on you.

This. I always read Hav's posts which I enjoy but my two minor gripes of match day threads are the bum licking that follows then if we concede, the 30 or so consecutive posts of "ffs" "arse" "balls" "oops" or "bollox" :D

Overall it's a great read though.

We never seem to do very well at Loftus Road and the players will be tired after Wednesday night.

On the plus side this is a season when we have got results at other grounds where we have struggled in the past (e.g. Wolves, Ipswich) and this City side have shown great resilience.

On balance I reckon it’ll be a draw.

How can @BigTone condense that???

Tiredness shouldn't be an issue for me today. 3 games in a week is fairly standard in the Champ. Appreciate they've not played midweek but shouldn't affect us too much.

Maybe on Tuesday. More so for the Wolves game and deffo for Villa.

Not today though.

3-1.

Flint, Bobby, Taylor.

Pack to nutmeg Holloway.

Morning all. I'm helping out the OSIB Podcast boys today as neither of them can make it.

I'll be outside the away entrance on Ellerslie Road between 14:30-14:45. If anyone wants to have a chat about the line ups or tactics then come and say hello.  I'm tall and will wear a cap with "BBBC" written across the front of it.

Just on my way. Didn't realise there are no trains from Redhill today - only bus replacement services:badmood:I'm sure NTTDS would not have made such a schoolboy error.

Anyway gives me a chance to listen to OSIB's latest

Not hopeful for today, if QPR have any sense they will give us the run around.

Should be an easy 3 points against a very poor QPR side. If we are to have any chance of catching top two then we have to turn these and Reading over especially with Villa/Wolves coming up. Expect a comfortable 2 goal win.

Still a chance to edit PLEASE

Yeah lets not underestimate anyone, as soon as you start doing that you'll get turned over. QPR are a good side and play some very good stuff (sometimes). Will go a long way to proving we're the real deal if we can win today.

Would take a draw today - might sound a bit low key, but we are stretched paper-thin just now, and with another game in just a few days, staying unbeaten and maintaining momentum is key until players are back to fitness/we can get in reinforcements.

Draw today as long as it's a win on boxing day absolutely true.

Funny how we play the Reading clones today, and the QPR clones on the 26th

People have been saying this for the last couple of months, when will we be 'the real deal'? Why not right now, 5 wins in a row, 1 of which being against the biggest club in the world.

Every game is a tough game. No matter how talented our squad is, how great the team spirit is, how much effort they all put in - this is the Championship, every game is tough, every game is a potential win, but also loss and draw, not least when we've got a very light squad that gave 125% on Wednesday. And do not underestimate QPR's motivation to get out of that bottom end of the table. We can win today, we have the quality, and that should be the aim - but it won't be easy.

Granted Brownhill looked very tired, but so did Pato. If we go with same side again (bar Frankie back in goal) then just hope LJ has not been tempted to pick anyone not 100% fit and raring to go. If we have one or two leg weary players picked we will get found out.

I’m  with you, sure this will be a harder team to pick for Johnson then Wednesday no doubt players will still be feeling Wednesday performance, considering the way we play.

It will be the greatest test of our focus this season imo. If we can beat this lot then it'll prove to me that we're professional enough to be consider contenders.

Pack also was running on fumes by the end of Wednesday's game. Could see some rotation there.

Problem being we don’t have any more CM’s. I do agree with you though, with our style it’s better to have energy over quality. Especially away from home, this will be the type of game where we rely on our strikers finishing as our midfield will do extremely well to get in behind

Not saying I expect or want him to start, but I wonder how long it will be til Bakinson is knocking on LJ's door. We obviously rate him, be interesting to see if he gets more game time over the rest of the season, what with the density of upcoming matches.

Surprised we've gone with Leko over Eliasson tbh, still looks a good team though. Wonder if we may see Kelly start to get more game time while O'Dowda is still out incase a big bid comes in for Bryan in January, will give LJ a better idea if he's ready for regular football.

I quite like the look of that side. To be honest, I'd say that it shows we have even more strength in depth beyond our 'B' team. Leko and Kelly all with points to prove, feel Leko especially could be a threat.
