Best 5 million we have ever spent,he’s asked to play left back centre mid and run about and how some people on here call him lazy because he won’t jump for headers when he eventually gets back up front is beyond belief

He has been poor most of the season but glad to see him improve recently.

When he’s up to it he’s a handful that not many defenders can handle, unfortunately he doesn’t do it consistently which is a shame.

Thought Pack was very good tonight, that through ball was quality.

His no look pass in front of the dolman when surrounded by two Norwich players was iniesta esque.

Tbh everyone played out of their skins today, add in eliasson for weimann and we've got a very decent side when on form

He’s not been poor at all. He was a month behind everyone due to his ban.

Continues to keep up how good goal scoring record too.

He’s not been poor , he’s been dreadful

Today he was  good, very good even

( A month behind .wtf  -We are in December)

He was a month behind in terms of his fitness etc so bound not to start off like a train is my point.

And no he hasn’t been dreadful. He’s a striker who scores key goals and pretty much only players in team we can rely on for them too.

Big difference today wasn’t fitness

It was ATTITUDE , nothing to do with missing early games

I like him and would always have him in the team.

That said he does not attack incoming balls enough, it’s like most of the team he’s playing 3 or 4 yards off.

I think the issue is you need a bobby Reid type occupying those positions on the box and gambling in Tim Krul tumbling that save. Fammy won’t.

You are missing my point. I am convinced he wasn’t at his best for a while, like today, because of the ban.

He’s proven last season that he is going to get a decent return at this level - amazed he was written off by so many a month ago.

Some may think I’m mad but I would have Lliked to havemoved Callum centrally to give us those legs and outlet

Prob was who did we have on bench to take CODS place LHS

Thought COD was shattered by 70 minutes. Maybe Watkins could have done a job? Idk with Eisa not getting minutes we feel really light on options. No surprise Norwich doing well with Rhodes of the bench and Olivera not playing at all!

Agree about limited real options from bench

As for COD , thought it was more a case of us and him getting pushed back / deeper , and struggling to have an outlet / get out

So much more effective today because we weren’t going direct and giving him the ball at head height which is absolute bread and butter for a championship level centre back attacking the ball away from his goal, the man isn’t Djuric size.

He was that much more effective because he was given the ball to hold up either to his chest or feet where he could use his body strength to draw fouls or bring others into play.

Feel like he gets a lot of stick for not winning enough headers as people perceive a target man should, but realistically that’s not his game at all, as shown today.

More than just attitude and work rate; his first touch today was superb at times. In contrast to other games where the ball just bounces off him. Also helped that we got support up quickly and in numbers; when we don't he just wears himself out chasing shadows. Anyway, that's two games now where defenders have found him a constant threat, and have really struggled to contain him. Long may it continue.

Rather than service , thought the difference was he was alive and on his toes much more than his heels today

Much more physicality and even when at least  he competed for first balls and didn’t win them , we regularly picked up second balls - hope this wasn’t lost on him

He was a different player today in his all round game IMHO

On the face of it, unless he was nursing a niggle or had a virus or something, he had a spell where he was poor and just looked disinterested.

Not sure what the change is, but if the management can keep him playing like that, he’s a real handful.

Despite the attitude comment though, I think his goal return is a very respectable one every other game.

Agree with that.

Only critical comment was that he was still on his heels a couple of times, and not always convinced he has that natural anticipation for a ball in that would take him a class higher. There was a speculative shot that their goalie spilled, that if he had followed in ‘just in case’ was a tap in.

That is being super critical however. A really good hard working effective game throughout.

You and who you responding to are both right. Though he was so much more active tonight and looked worth every bit of that 5.3m.

Totally agree with all that

Difference was that normally he requires perfect service and then has been getting brushed off the ball or losing it with poor touch etc

Today , until he tired late , he fought for balls that weren’t  ideal , and won some and gave the opportunity for others to pick up the pieces , or press, when he didn’t

Agree that his anticipation isn’t always great

All in all a much better all round game
