I`m not totally sure about this but I believe Bolton`s ground is no longer in Bolton, it`s in Horwich.

Decent shout although technically Horwich is in the metropolitan borough of Bolton postcode BL6.

I grew up in staffordshire. I seem to remember the common consensus there was it was something to do with the canals.

Valley of ports or something like that.

But i don't think anyone really knows for sure!

Named after Port Vale House - nuffin to do with water! https://www.port-vale.co.uk/club/history/

In a previous life I lived in East London and it was hilarious to see away fans getting off at West Ham, two stops down the line from Upton Park! Bit like Bristol City I guess; more like North Somerset ... And top premiership teams ... home support the Far East!

The original club was a church football team from the Everton area, I am reliably informed by a professional Scouser neighbour.

Just to confuse things, Liverpool were originally named Everton FC and were an off-shoot of this early club.

I raise you the Liverpool Echo! https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-fc-called-everton-fc-9652736
