I, on the other hand, was at Bath when they beat us three nil, but also on the Muller Road end when we were one-nil down before going two-one up to knock them out of the cup. 22A
OK Rovers; I've found a stadium that may be suited to your needs. It's not too far from the Mem, down at Eastville. Looks a bit ramshackle, but you're used to that.

Who could have built? When their Chairman suggested a super stadium there in the 60's he made it clear that it was going to need to be funded by the Greyhound Company and "local businesses" if it was to work. The "temporary" bus shelter they are building right now is the closest they got to ever paying for something permanent with their own money in the last 100 years.

It’s been financed with a secured loan from Nationwide. Finance Ltd. If Alf Saeed is extremely wealthy why hasn’t he paid that off or refinanced at a lower rate than 12% ? 4

They had to borrow players off us to finish the league program and were heading for having to to go cap in hand to apply for re election. A certain Mr. A Hitler of the Reichstag, Berlin intervened and the football league was suspended. In effect, Hitler saved the gas, an unfortunate coin of phrase, but the truth never the less.

I’m sorry, but saying they haven’t built anything permanent in the last 100 years is a slur on the good name of Bristol Rovers. We had such a good team at that time. Our back four was very solid - such a shame when Collier left. Cheesley was a truly exceptional striker whom I firmly believe would have gone on to play internationally had he not suffered such a career ending injury. Ritchie was a perfect foil for him. Fear was frustrating but a real favourite of mine. 17 minutes ago, 22A said: Sometime in between those two matches, one of the stands seems to have, ahem, disappeared. Gone up in smoke. Ironic that after all of the intervening years, only now are they building a replacement. I was at both matches but, given all of the shit that we’d had to live through, the Cup win was such a great moment in time. TC will always be a legend to those who lived through those times. 7

LilRascal
Eastville was such a dump - but look at the size of it, the potential of the site they once had to build a decent stadium (plus additional facilities), in their traditional heartland, with excellent road and train links. Only a truly incompetent (or corrupt) management could have f-ed it all up quite so comprehensively.

Fair play to them for sticking two fingers up at Gormridge and Wael imo. The authentic family club knows no bounds.
