Hell of a risk. It’s gone public now, So if Taylor turns it down, Rovers crawl back to someone and basically say well now you know we didn’t really want you, but do you fancy the job anyway please?

Is it particularly risky? Was this not City’s exact strategy with Liam Manning after strong links with Lampard and Eustace for days?

Rovers already had this from when it was announced they were negotiating with more than one candidate.

Probably more to do with many on your list of potential candidates missing criminal convictions on their CV

We didn’t speak to/interview anyone other than Manning, and local media didn’t report on anything other than Manning, so no not really

Whoever gets the job will need to check for drawing pins on the Rovers office chairs.

I once worked with a chap who was sacked. He handed back the keys of his company car for his replacement to take on a few weeks later. It was the middle of summer and he left unwrapped stilton and kippers under the passenger seat.

Are you suggesting that Mr Barton may have left some booby traps for his successor?

Shame on you! He doesn`t have a vindictive bone in his body...................................

Now apparently opened talks with Matt Taylor, which shows that it’s been 4 weeks and they don’t want to appoint anyone that they’ve spoken to so far. Tinpot as ****

Or.. anyone that they’ve spoken to on closer inspection don’t want a bar of it because they’re as tinpot as ***.

More a case of still haven’t found anyone…😂

Imagine you are a prospective manager who rocks up at the theatre of tents. You`d have a look round and be shown the new `stand`, the disabled enclosure and the championship ready sprinklers and think `Hmmm`

You are then taken to see the training ground where there are a couple of portakabins and a wheely bin laughingly described as the `cryogenic centre`. You also see Chris Martin lumbering around whilst the apprentices pick up fox shit.

You`re on your way back up the M5 as fast as you can!

Am I right in saying that this is the first stand they have built in their long but not illustrious history ? (other than the tented variety of course). Which would explain them being ecstatic.

Nope no link, just a fact at time of posting

Seems a bit odd. A manager who gets promotion from League 2, moves clubs gets promoted to Championship and then gets sacked when that club is 22nd wouldn't be a completely unrealistic option for a club in 10th in League 1 looking for playoffs.

Check out the 2 by the corner flag, within a couple of feet of each other...

So it looks as though if you sat in that corner bit under the 2 overlapping roofs, you would have 3 pillars spoiling your view of the pitch.

That might have its advantages of course (more pillars please...) but that probably exceeds the definition of 'restricted view'. More like, 'a view of some pillars with a football match in the background'.

No it's not, but at the time of my original post he (as in Matt taylor) was not interested

don't know if that's still the case or not

Don't know about the fans but Wael might be getting a bit twitchy. A quick look at Gaschat suggests they are ready to see him spend his remaining €£$ on developing the other sides of the ground when he hasn't finished this one yet!

Hold yer horses there chaps, might need to wait another 20 years for that.....

I can’t get over that either.

It’s a bang-average, cheaply built stand with pillars. Literally nobody builds stands like that any more. But the way they’re talking about it is like it’s the new Spurs stadium.

It really does show just how limited their aspiration is, and how starved of modern facilities they have been, that they think this looks “class” (to quote a couple of tweets). Embarrassing really.

Plumbed in, flushing toilets for away supporters would be class.

Spot on.

The Atyeo was done back in 1994, this is just a smaller, shitter version of that stand.

Someone tell them over the river that John Major isn’t Prime Minister now & East 17 have spilt up.

Albeit with only one original founding member- Terry Coldwell, East 17 still exist

They’re just trying to put a brave face on the fact that they’ve lost yet another potential new stadium after giving it the big un. It’s what they do.

Unlucky da shit 🤣

Cretins.

What will be funny is that, when meccano town is finished and their capacity goes up to about 12k they still won`t get anywhere near selling it out.

It`s what they do.

They should have developed that dump years ago instead of trying to compete with us.

They need a 12k stadium that maybe could be expanded to 15k in the unlikely event they reach the Championship.

Even then it wouldn't be filled.

Last time they were at this level their average was 5,745 and didn't reach 6,000 in the 3 seasons they were there. In fact, their average attendance went down on promotion from 6,202 in the third tier. Must be rare for a clubs attendances go down after promotion.
