Popular Post Jerseybean
Good day City fans everywhere. ‘No one likes us, we don’t care’. A midweek trip to South East London and the Den is certainly not for the faint-hearted! This article, from our game against them in 2018, paints a vivid picture: https://www.dreamteamfc.com/c/news-gossip/390791/millwall-premier-league-championship/ Pay on the night tickets are available. If you are traveling by train and want a pre-match drink somewhere near London Bridge might be best. If you are really thirsty and brave you might fancy the Bermondsey Beer Mile: https://www.bermondsey-beer-mile.co.uk If you have Sky it’s available on the red button and the match will be streamed live on Robins TV to both domestic and overseas subscribers. Unfortunately that’s (hopefully) how NP will be watching things unfold, get well soon Nigel. Millwall have been plagued with injuries this season which had included Benik Afobe, the on-loan Stoke City striker, although he’s back playing again. Afobe has made eight appearances (two from the bench) for the Lions this season and scored twice. Of course Benik’s loan spell to us was devastated by him suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury which was described by LJ at the time as a ‘freak injury picked up in training’. The Lions have had a number of first-teamers unavailable with the likes of Ryan Leonard, Shaun Hutchinson and Danny McNamara all missing games. McNamara is apparently available for selection again but they are reportedly set to be without Connor Mahoney and Mason Bennett’s tonight. As well as Afobe others that have played for both clubs include Matt Smith, Marvin Elliott, David Thompson and Martyn Woolford. Their fans forum has been taken down, presumably due to the outcry their fans are making about players taking the knee. Their perspective apparently being they are flying the flag for the Anti Woke Brigade. TBH I had to look up the origins of the term ‘woke.’ The word was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary as an adjective in June 2017. The dictionary defines it as “originally: well-informed, up-to-date. Now chiefly: alert to racial or social discrimination and injustice”. The Urban Dictionary, which published its original definition two years prior to the official dictionary, defines it as “being woke means being aware… knowing what’s going on in the community (related to racism and social injustice)”. In other words, it means to be awake to sensitive social issues, such as racism. The Millwall Bushwackers are the most notorious football firm associated with the club. The club and fans of Millwall have a historic association with football hooliganism, which came to prevalence in the 1970s and 1980s with a firm known originally as F-Troop, eventually becoming more widely known as the Millwall Bushwackers. On five occasions the Den has been closed by the FA and the club has received numerous fines for crowd disorder. Our head-to-head record is 32 draws, won 36 and lost 33. Last season we were 4-1 losers at their place (a game that Kalas won’t want to recall, while Conway scored his first goal for us) and were beaten 2-0 at home, although we did beat them 3-0 in the FA Cup. Millwall are a bit of a draw specialist, they returned 17 draws last season, which was the highest in the Championship (we drew six last season the lowest in the league) and they have six draws from their opening nine league games this season (currently the highest in the league), their form over the last five league games: WDDDD = 7 points, while ours is: WDDWD = 9 points. They were recently knocked out of the EFL Cup by Leicester City and their last league game away at Nottingham Forest ended 1-1. NP and/or CF have some nice selection headaches, including is Williams, who made an impact off the bench last time out, ready for 90 minutes and will Palmer start. Millwall musings From 1964 to January 1967, Millwall went on a record unbeaten home run of 59 matches without defeat (W43 D16). The Lions scored 112 goals and kept 35 clean sheets during that period. Millwall's former nickname was the Dockers, they run Dockers days when supporters who were real dockers get in free as long as they bring some proof, ie a dockers hook etc. Bermondsey, which borders their ground, was the most bombed part of London in WW2. The Germans called it Target Area G. Millwall’s first (1920) and last (1993) match at the Old Den were against the Gas. Before WW2 Millwall we’re the 11th best supported club in the country. As we look forward to a good City performance, keep safe tonight and if you are there be loud and proud. COYR. 18 6 Quote Link to comment
BCFCGav
Draw specialists in the division, and we've been prone to a few ourselves this season, it feels like the game is screaming a gritty 1-1. So expect a 5-3 either way. Hope we give Palmer a shot form the start, let him ride that wave from Saturday and get some form. COYR. Quote Link to comment

Port Said Red
Football violence was associated with Millwall a long time before it's heyday, their ground was first closed due to trouble in the 1930's I believe. 1 Quote Link to comment

Selred
Genuinely have 1 adult ticket going spare now. (Not my partner to add, she's still coming, it's her cousin who can't make it (who is a City fan)). Quote Link to comment
awbb
I'm expecting (hoping) to see Fleming sporting the Britney Spears/Sam Allardyce (take your pick) headphone & microphone contraption this evening relaying orders from a spluttering Nige who is wrapped up with a warm blanket and a Lemsip/whisky (take your pick) while his wife asks him to calm down and to stop swearing at the telly and does he know that his phone has been in a call for 75 minutes? 1 2 Quote Link to comment

wendyredredrobin
2 teams struggling to get wins suggests another draw tonight. 0-0 or maybe 1-1 I suspect. They have pace down the wings, so we need to ensure we pick fullbacks with a bit of acceleration. Afobe did well for us before he was injured and will be one to keep an eye on as he is pretty quick (or he was). Matt Smith has given us a hard time over the years and Jed Wallace (who makes them tick) is now fit again. I do remember George Saville (Jim's lad?) playing well against us in the past too. Will HNM be fit and will he step back in or did Williams play well enough on Saturday to earn a start? Is Antoine fit now? Not going to be an easy night for the lads and since the boss has caught COVID again, I'm hope he's not passed it on to any of them (not that we can usually pass anything anyway). Heart says we can snatch 3 points tonight, head says boring 0-0. 1 Quote Link to comment
MarcusX
Any idea if the tickets are "e-tickets"? I could onlyt confirm I could go now that I've managed to get fuel (else I cant work the rest of the week!) If I buy a ticket its obviously not going to get to me and I dont fancy trying to locate a ticket office at Millwall (not even sure you can because you are tunnelled into the ground?) Any thoughts from anyone? 41 minutes ago, Selred said: Genuinely have 1 adult ticket going spare now. WOuld pay the full amount just saves my hassle of whether it's e ticket or not etc Quote Link to comment

LondonBristolian
I can't make tonight, which is a shame as it is one of my favourite away games. Quote Link to comment
Finley_Smith10
Not sure how we’ll set up. Could be to match Millwall? I’d quite like to see a 3-5-2 DB TK RA NB GT MJ JW JD KP NW AW However I guess we are unbeaten in 5 for a reason and maybe won’t change too much. Think it’s got a 1-1 draw all over it 1 Quote Link to comment

For us Casey 1, Wiemann 2. For those that travel so far away I wish you all the best as those travelling away to the Den in the middle of the week you all deserve a medal. 3 Quote Link to comment

Baba Yaga
Don't mind paying a tenner to watch the stream after really enjoying the game last Saturday. If I'm honest I'm not expecting to enjoy this one quite so much but it's going to be interesting to see if they can put in a strong performance again, after so many players collapsing to the floor on full time it could be a challenge and hopefully not having Pearson there won't have an effect. Would be impressed if they get a result at the Den tonight since they have done quite poorly against Millwall in recent seasons. Quote Link to comment

Was debating this with @GrahamCyesterday. My gut feel is that Nige will pick the team, and then handover completely to Fleming. Nige doesn’t strike me as someone who’ll interfere tonight once the game is underway. Quote Link to comment
