Barnsley fans must feel hard done by, today was all about the result not the performance The main thing is a Home Win the monkeys off our back now.

Hopefully we can get a few players back from injury soon Semenyo Baker King Williams etc and push on from here.

I just sat through a game that was awful. Looked like a non league game at times. Happy with the win of course but overall it was shocking. Barnsley will be down by March and yet they should have turned us over.

I fully understand the job Nige has on his plate but **** me he hasn’t got much to work with.

This is exactly what I have previously said the squad is very poor. Its a good job we have the likes of Bents, kalas,Hnm.

Hope it wasn’t an SLR with a wide angle lens! :shocking:

Could have been a whole film crew for all I know DC, I was out of it.

Can we now stop mentioning my arse and concentrate on our glorious (not) victory please? ?

It was a bit stressful, wasn't it? ?

In the second half we struggled, conceding many chances (some huge ones), we had to face an irritating one-way refereeing (that had an impact on our goal chances too), but...WE WON!

The team's effort and the support were great. Both deserved a joy, after so many disappointing - and sometimes undeserved - results. Hopefully this win will restore some confidence and make the team play with lese pressure. COYR!!!

Interesting you say that. I thought we had jelly in goal today. Bentley was a bag of nerves imo today. Having played so poor for 40 minutes and then having the game handed to us in four minutes I did think we would put up a better show than that second half. We literally played 4 minutes of football in 100 minutes today and fortunately it was enough.

Holy Toledo! That was sphincter-clenching stuff at the end. I was convinced their keeper was going to score. And how that chance at the end stayed out is beyond me.

Spent two years in Barnsley as a student in the 90s so after propping up the local hospitality economy the beggars owed me a favour.

Another underwhelming performance against a side on a wretched run of form, but that’s for another day. For now let’s just savour the first home win since trilobites swam in the Avon.

Credit to the fans, tremendous backing - you were our 12th man today. ?

Really? Kept us in the game with some good saves when he needed to. COYR

Essential win but **** we lose that game against anyone better than Barnsley who could be a relegation candidate - who let's be honest battered us 2nd half.

Take 3 points, because we absolutely need them. But this team are a relegation prospect, don't want to watch football like that long term, certainly won't be paying for it.

He made saves that a keeper of his about should be making but it was keystone cops in our penalty area. Now and again I wouldn’t mind seeing him take a few of those high balls being pumped in rather than leaving the centre halves to get battered.

You have to celebrate it. With the run at home we've had its huge. Had to get a win no matter how. We were lucky, but we've had games in the winless run where we've been the better team, games we drew where, we should have won. Games we lost where we should have had a draw. Arguably even games we lost we should have won. It really doesn't matter how we got it, we really needed that.

Never mind the quality, feel the width !

He came for/got to at least 4/5 today. Keeper can't come for everything. I think its an area of his game that can improve, but I think he's been coming for more balls this season and making some progress. Could be subjective though - @davefevs any stats on that?

Great wasn’t it?

Fans came through for the team today big time. We were not going to let them lose, practically willed the team home.  Best atmosphere at the Gate in the last 15 mins since Man Utd. Celebrated like we won the league too.

Somehow made it over the line, and hopefully that turns a massive corner and is a huge confidence boost.

Does this group of players have the collective guts and determination to grind out a result against a team who have not won in twelve games and lost their last six ?

The answer should be yes, but I'm not so sure.

I hope I'm wrong, but Barnsley are playing us at the right time to end their own dreadful sequence of results imho.

Well, we rode our luck, but there was guts and determination aplenty today.

Glad I was wrong and thank fk I was.

Not exactly sure how we held on for the win. I was nervous every time they got a corner. We could have made it easier for ourselves particularly if Bakinson showed more strength given his size and if Wells had threatened the goal more than he did the south stand Heineken sign but perhaps winning a game in this manner is just what we need. Massengo the Magnificent gets the nod for Mom for me.

Phew. What a great feeling to get that win. The scenes after the final whistle were memorable and I thought the crowd got behind the team superbly in those last few minutes.

City were mainly poor and did the usual thing in the last part of the game where we invited pressure and failed to keep hold of the ball, but at least we can enjoy a Saturday night after a home match again.

Oh dear...massive points to be 10 points clear of relegation but not looking good. I saw Nigel interview after the game and that shows exactly that he is worried also.

Oh dear; it's wrist slitting time at Barnsley. (Some of their comments are sooooo similar to ones that occasionally appear on here).

At the rate we're going I'm not going to bother renewing next season. If I want to watch footy on a Saturday I will probably just walk down to watch Wombwell Town such is my complete apathy towards my beloved Reds. Never felt like this in nearly nearly 35 years of following Barnsley.

Hopefully Barnsley, under new owners. Maybe Bradford Park Avenue if I go back to grass roots.

As pleased as I was with our victory, the fact Barnsley fans are so unhappy with their lot really puts that performance in perspective. I can stomach being taken apart by Bournemouth and WBA but not dominated by Barnsley at home, and for periods yesterday that’s exactly what happened.

Pearson needs to sort this shower out double quick because we may have ended that embarrassing winless run but turned the corner we have not.
