petehinton
In the 2017/18 season, our supposed ‘golden era’ recently, we had a play-off run, Manchester games, played great football etc. Coventry were in League Two, hadn’t got a pot to piss in and on the verge of getting kicked out of their ground again. All the hyperbole from then onwards over being a ‘Premier League club in training’, sacking Lee Johnson to get someone to ‘take us to the next level’, opening the ‘High Performance Centre’ with supposed world class facilities, napping pods and all the rest of it. Despite all that, fast forward 3/4 years later Coventry, whilst down to 10 men, absolutely batter us, with a clear identity of play and players with unbelievable belief and determination, in a league game to send us 19th in the championship, and them up to 4th. If anything can illustrate how very badly the club have got things wrong on & off the pitch over the past 2/3 seasons, today underlines it. Should be some senior people at the club today feeling very embarrassed. 9 1
054123
Good post Pete, but I feel like this has been going on for 20 years. Same cycle of mistakes and ultimately flawed decisions. Maybe Keith Dawe should pick all of our mangers?

ralphindevon
‘Twas ever thus! At some point this decade we’ll be on a good run, promotion from L1 a good showing in the championship and we’ll be all waiting for the next step to the promised land. Then Rochdale and Wrexham will beat us to it and we’ll be in free fall again.

I’d love an explanation as to what makes jnr suitable for the role of chairman of a multi million pound business. The Lansdowns have taken their eye off the ball, not for the first time and don’t ******* learn. H&L would not be run like Bristol city fc

Seems that we expended too much energy on "talking the talk", whilst other clubs quietly and modestly got on with "walking the walk". It feels like it just clicks for other clubs, but never does for us.

No idea what.

Exactly how I'm feeling right now. Maybe I'm just dumbstruck by yet another capitulation, but I'm really running out of ideas for what the root issue at the club is and how it's resolved.

The only consistents ate the squad (most of) or the owner. Don’t see what difference the owner would make.

That Wolves game was the very beginning of the rot that we now see unfolding in front of us.

I think it was wrong when Cotterill came up. The club didn’t believe in him for some reason. Similarly the same post Gary Johnson.

I felt Johnson should’ve gone at the end of that season. Just my opinion.

David Brent
Without going into whether change was needed (LJ had his chance), we got LJs replacement wrong and have suffered ever since. The level of manager we could tempt now has dropped drastically
