Lanterne Rouge
Six down now - 160 probably the best they can hope for with six overs left.

Fordy62
Delighted Lancashire didn’t win. real shame ZZ couldn’t fire in the semi, but what I wouldn’t give for their batting line up at Glos!

Lrrr
Having watched it back I see why Vilas was upset, the keeper has broken the stumps while the batter is clearly in and the original on strike batter has already turned for 2 (why wouldn’t you when 1 isn’t enough?) so the batters haven’t stopped running ie the ball not dead, at the other end the keeper is then handed a stump that’s already been removed from the ground in celebration so the keeper hasn’t broken it himself and therefore not a run out at that end either. Add that apparently Hampshire had a completely different field for the free hit than the ball before which I believe is penalty of a no ball and neither of these things were checked by the third umpire but stayed with the on pitch umpires who I thought were generally poor through the day as well

What we don’t know is if the umpires have called the end of the game at any point. If they have then it’s irrelevant what happens afterwards

ralphindevon
I must admit I really enjoyed finals day this year, despite the obvious disappointment. The trick is, especially on baking hot days, is to chose your seat wisely. Unless of course you love all the singing, fancy dress and non stop drinking in the sun, which is of course fine but I prefer to concentrate on the cricket and watch and take in the great atmosphere from a distance. Two fantastic games and one disappointment. But fair play to Edgbaston and all the teams and supporters it was a great occasion.

These things happen - bit like when stokes got that extra run v NZ in WC final. Overall Lancs threw it away as think they only need 52 off 48 with 7 wickets in hand. Nah the MCC mentioned it but said as free hits aren't a law in the game they're a rule in the competition that the organisers decide so its up to the ECB to issue guidance, passing the hot potato. Also backs up the point about the umpires being poor, the umpires effectively gave the win to Hampshire because they decided against waiting 5 seconds to see if the batters weren't going to run again.
