It's long been rumoured but is a real loss. Him and Williams were immense together in 2019/2020 and he played a big part in keeping us above water in the early parts of last season.

Best of luck to him for the future and I hope he builds a life he enjoys away from playing football.

Yes that would be a great way to do it, or at least a Nathan Baker day at a home game or something. Yes potentially with Bamba, but I think the club would have been aware along time ago he was going to retire just waiting for him to be ready to publicly announce it.

Can only echo what’s been said - always fully committed, always gave 110% in every challenge and put himself in where others feared. That may have hastened this, but he wouldn’t have been Bakes without that commitment.

Hopefully see him on the pitch to say goodbyes and thanks properly before an upcoming game.
