With the Bears playing on Friday and a widespread frost forecast, the pitch might not be very good on Saturday.

Plus, I hate those rugby lines showing on the pitch, it makes it look like a 1st or 2nd division stadium. Wish SL would build a separate stadium for the rugby and just use Ashton Gate for the important stuff.

Hasn’t done Brentford any harm…

Why on earth would he do that?

Think you’ll find frost makes the pitch hard, so more likely to cause a postponement than a quagmire.

As for the Bears, if Mr Lansdown finds £50m+ down his sofa that he wants to blow for no foreseeable financial gain, then you may get your wish!

On the basis it's not the first time we've had this weather and we've not had any problems before I'd leave the worrying down to our ground staff

Quagmire Alert - great band, though never quite the same after they changed guitarists.

That was Quadmire Alert, and their new song, 'Might be hard and it might be muddy'...

We've had this pitch for five or six years and not one instance of a bad or damaged pitch.

The grass is renewed by re-seeding every summer. It is kept growing during the winter low temperatures by the undersoil heating and the special lighting that the groundstaff wheel onto the pitch as and when required.

The opener of this thread either has not a clue about the pitch or just wants to stir things up. Sad!

What is the life span of a Desso pitch with both sports played on it?

It has been down a few years now, will it need re laying at some point?

7 years I think was said, when it was put in.

Think you'll find that frost melts. All basic stuff really.

The very match that frustrated them. The club were said to be deeply unimpressed with the state of the pitch following that game.

This came up because on sky they were saying how unusual it is to see such a poor pitch in the premier league, then went on to talk about how Brentford had stated they weren't happy either.

N.B. I've looked on the mighty Google and not a mention of it, so make of that what you will.

I am no expert but the floods across the west country and beyond in recent weeks tell their own story with pitch conditions.

Rugby definitely won't help a Desso pitch but in 'normal' winter weather the 2 sports should be possible together.

For the younger readers, take a look at footy shows from the 70s and 80s like the Big Match. It looks like they are playing on the mud flats of the Severn estuary.
