cider hoss rules Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 As per the title, how long before Lampard & Gerrard become linked, despite both having questionable records of achievement? Leeds United: Jesse Marsch sacked after less than a year in charge - BBC Sport Quote
cider hoss rules Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Apologies, looks like @Jersey Bristolian, @Super and me all posted about this at the same time! 1 Quote
Mr Popodopolous Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Results wise perhaps no great surprise but I question whether their general performance level is so bad. They seem to press well, create reasonable numbers of chances but results are all important. Quote
lenred Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Shame, he was doing a fantastic job! 1 1 Quote
RedLionLad Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 After recruiting several players he’s worked with before, breaking their transfer record and just one game after the transfer window. Crazy Quote

Bazooka Joe Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Marsching on together . . . . not ! I thought they would have given him till Marsch. 9 1 Quote
Silvio Dante Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 To be fair, as soon as the fans have nicknamed you “Yank Lampard”, then it’s game over! 1 6 1 Quote

Need to get someone in who can turn that into results. Marsch is probably a better coach than this makes him look. 1 2 Quote

miketh2nd Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Considering how much he spent on January signings that's a pretty strange time to sack him although I didn't think he'd be a good enough manager for the prem anyhow. Quote

After his time at derby when they played Leeds in the play offs he would be mad to go there . Leeds fans hate him with a passion . 1 Quote

Not exactly the best thing to hear if you're a player at Soton. He claims Luton were a fluid, progressive side under him. They absolutely were not. They were shocking when we played them in August. 1 Quote

Harry Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 Marsch seemed to come from that traditional US of A philosophy of ‘mindset, culture, positivity’. You know, all those fluffy things that might get you a fair way in business but don’t get you anywhere with multi millionaire international footballers. The American version of Nigel Adkins. Thinks he can progress a football team by instilling a positive mindset. Only takes you so far. I’m afraid you need a fair bit more substance than that. 1 Quote

I don’t think any US manager would last in England. I don’t think we can take them seriously in the world of football. Quote

Phileas Fogg Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I really like Marsch. He's a very good man and interesting to listen to. Was always going to be a tough act to follow to live up to Bielsa who was so enigmatic and popular. I think Marsch is a "project" type manager who needs a longer period of time to implement his coaching and ideas on a team. He won't get that at most clubs in the Prem, perhaps with the exception of Brentford or Brighton, and certainly not at Leeds. Quote
