Alex Scott - £25m to Bournemouth- Confirmed

Although Crook suggested that there hasn't yet been the interest hoped for.

Scott is a very special talent but PL clubs can and do cast their net far and wide. If it's true that FFP is starting to be enforced more strictly in the PL then that could be a consideration for some.

Is it possible that Bournemouth have got Crook to say that?

Interesting, never know. Hadn't thought of that..who knows in the fog of the transfer market- does he specialise in South Coast stuff.

For clarity the first paragraph is Crook, the second paragraph is my take to some extent.

Bit of chatter from the Wolves end..There is also someone on there who claims to know a relative of Scott.

I really hope we stand firm because although this is a plausible scenario, the nauseating arrogance and inward looking nature of some PL fans is starting to grate. (Brightonwolf).

I've been quite risk averse but £25m or close to £25m ie say £22m with several million more in realistic add-ons or no.

What a load of bollocks from Mr Wolf.

I mean you never know but...I'm inclined to call it doubtful.

If Scott starts kicking up a fuss, puts in a transfer request which way does it go then.

Beijing Wolf isn't the poster in q btw, neither is Brighton Wolf it's Guernsey Wolf who claims to know a relative of Scott.

Quick Google search says he covers the South Coast area. He's done lots of stories on Bournemouth. He has their new manager live on talksport with him today so he obviously has a very close relationship with them so I'm saying it's very plausible they have got him to say that.

Bournemouth "Hi Alex, if you can leak a story about there being little interest in Alex Scott then we'll give you an interview with our new manager live on air"

That sort of thing I suspect.

What @OneTeamInBristol would you suggest.

Quite bullish aren't we but if Scott gets his head turned how does the dynamic change in your considered view.

The kid seems perfectly happy here playing on his PlayStation with his mate ConwAy!

Head turners Wolves and Muff are not. However, I would say spurs, Manchester C/U,Liverpool, Arse Chelsea + one of about five European clubs then head turns would be an issue. This is going to run for a while yet as I personally feel something big is brewing!

PL and money is PL and money. Wolves have been in Europe recently so you never know.

That's the other good point though, so far there is no indication that Scott is clamouring for a move just yet. Sure it can change in a flash but I honestly think he could be better served for his overall development with one more season here, in a better side than he has played in so far who are looking upwards at last.

I have no idea, as do 99% of people on here and that Wolves forum.

My laughing emoji was based on Beijing Wolf's comment about knowing Pearson's father in law, don't be so sensitive.

It would be silly to turn down the opportunity to play in the Premier League if Bournemouth meet out valuation. If they've bid for him then he'll have indicated he's happy to go there.

All it takes is one serious injury and the opportunity can be lost forever.

I can see him starting the season for sure. If he shows form the offers will increase. A lot can happen between now and Friday 1st September at 11

Fair enough, yes that's true. Point well made by you. Yeah chatter is all speculation really on most forums with most posters, I shouldn't be so sensitive also.

Of course, if they meet £25m then that's a whole different ball game.

My thinking is that they'll try and lever the price down as low as realistically possible.

I always thought Mehmeti played wide and cut inside even at Wycombe....

@Davefevswhats the tool you have that shows players most played positions?!

My eyes ???

Seriousky, until last season, he’d played the vast majority of his career playing off of the striker as a no10 / support striker in a central position

£18m would still make him one of the most expensive teenagers to ever be sold by a Championship club. It's a fantastic fee. Just because we - Club and fans - want more doesn't mean we'll get it.

Exactly.  We can all say what we’d do, but ultimately City / SL / PA have another decision to make when the next bid comes in.

This money decreases SL’s need to top up the club to the extent he needs to each year.

We seem to be posting opinions as fact as to what the club will do, when we’ve little / no idea.

Can’t see why Alex wouldn’t want to wait and see if a bigger club come in. It’s still early days in the window so unless his agent has indicated that nobody else is going to come in then why not wait for a potentially bigger opportunity. Time is on his side !

There is firstly little doubt in my mind that Alex is amenable to signing for Bournemouth, ditto Wolves if their bid is true also.  What we’ve no idea is how relaxed he is about City potentially declining bids.

Agents do have a reputation for saying there’s interest, but getting that club to bid is a different matter.

Would do you think we should do if no one is prepared to go any higher up front, then?

Take the 18 mill but don't let anyone know, not even Bcfcshags mate. Then say: "undisclosed fee." Meanwhile, knock up a telegram to the Muff saying something like: "Muff. 25 mill. Plus Semenyo back on loan. Or forget it." Then leave this lying around the office, somewhere Bcfcshags mate will see it.

Completely agree, the media reports seem to change every other day. Spurs were front runners then West Ham then Inter Milan were interested now its Bournemouth as front runners.

There are so many moving parts to consider without really knowing the full story. The window is open for 6 weeks.. If he's going to move (and I think he will) I reckon it'll be towards the end of the window. Unless of course we get an offer we are happy with prior to this.

And he is happy to go to the club who has hit the magic number.

Muff will need a lot of selling, even more than usual.

Nige's father in law!  We all know if Wolves play dirty, Nige will just fight them off with his bare hands!

I think the best move for Alex from the teams linked so far would be Brighton. Exposure to European Football and would likely get the game time he wants.  Wolves and Bournemouth again will offer him the game time he wants, but would he want that in a team in transition that (certainly in Bournemouths case) are a good bet to struggle at the wrong end. He loves Spurs, but I don't know if he gets games there.  I'd love Newcastle to be interested as I think Howe is the perfect manager for someone like Scott to progress under, but I've not seen any link there since March.

£18m is almost an entire season's losses. It's a huge injection of cash. Honestly people seem fixated on the £25m figure...but I reckon we'd be happy with anything within 10% of £20m.

Him and Brighton feels a strong match. Younger players can shine there, the style of play under De Zerbi especially is brilliant,  Webster and Maupay to name two stepped up from the Championship (I know Maupay has had his difficulties at Everton but he was decent at Brighton). European football too as you say.

Who is better between Alex Scott and his u19 midfield mate Carney who went to Chelsea for £20m?

Just wondering

A good comparison is James McAtee who had a good season loan at Sheff U last year (didn't win EFL YPOTS though.....) and there have apparently been £30m offers in for him

Bournemouth would feel a bit of an anti-climax, mainly because I genuinely think Alex has a real shot at playing for England within the next 24 months if he continues his current rate of progress. And he's not going to do that while he's at Bournemouth.

I don't really understand that. He might stand out in that Bournemouth team then he'll more than likely get a move to a bigger club.

In the position he plays, playing in a team that'll get out-passed - and lose - most games, standing out will be difficult.

Don't think that point of view is too difficult to understand, personally, but all opinions innit.

I couldn’t careless who he goes too , there money is as good as anyone’s, take the money and move on, all the best to Alex and wish him luck.
