They then discussed who would qualify automatically as there's no way all five nations would be allowed to qualify automatically. Cardiff, Belfast & Dublin would want to host more than just a couple of pool stage games, at least a quarter final. The Scots have offered Hampden and England has proposed fived Prem grounds; one of them the Everton stadium. Read before all the teams will still have to qualify and there will be no direct entry for the hosts as there are too many . Like with Euro 2020/21. https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11095/12975725/euro-2028-how-losing-home-nations-and-ireland-could-still-qualify-through-bizarre-uefa-loophole Edited October 4, 2023 by Markthehorn
One Team
Whilst there is no doubt benefit for the economy with the tournament I actually prefer it when it’s hosted elsewhere. Part of the attraction of the Euros (or the World Cup) is when it’s abroad at a relatively close country.

Yes, I still feel our fans let us down in the final v Italy, the amount in the ground that had turned up after a 6/8 hour alcohol/cocaine binge and offered nothing towards the atmosphere was a huge shame. Not sure what you can do but to see Wembley that day absolutely rammed at 1 o’clock with a brilliant atmosphere it was never going to last for the 8 o’clock kick off and beyond. The whole evening was a lot flatter than it should have been on and off the pitch.
2015
Controversial, but I prefer tournaments hosted abroad and in one singular Country. Maybe i'm just a traditionalist, but feels proper that way.

Is there anywhere else in the Midlands- and then Masters is a Villa fan (head of PL) as is Prince William (FA).

We have Stadiums in the North and South so makes sense. 1966; games were played around most of the country. Ayresome and Roker in the North East etc. The FA wanted o hold a few pool games in the South West and (naturally) looked at AG. At the time we only had a stand on one side of the ground, so missed out. 1996; the pool games were all hosted by teams in the Prem. I always thought fixtures such as Switzerland v Croatia could have been held in Bristol / Plymouth / Norwich / Ipswich. The failed bid for the 2018 World Cup showed an improvement though; A total of fifteen stadia from twelve cities were proposed to FIFA. Had England's bid been successful, the final decision on which would host matches would have been made in 2013. Three stadia would have been forwarded from London: Wembley Stadium, Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and either the Olympic Stadium or Tottenham Hotspur's yet-to-be-built new ground (if the latter were ready). The other stadia that were nominated were Sunderland's Stadium of Light, Birmingham's Villa Park, the New Nottingham Forest Stadium, Elland Road in Leeds, Sheffield's Hillsborough Stadium, St James' Park in Newcastle, the new Bristol City Stadium, Plymouth's Home Park, Old Trafford and the City of Manchester Stadium in Manchester, and, in Liverpool, either the existing Anfield or the proposed Stanley Park Stadium. In the case of Liverpool, the bid committee determined that the current Anfield stadium would have been, with minor improvements, acceptable for World Cup matches; however, because of Liverpool FC's plans to build a new ground, the committee specified that the new stadium would take the place of Anfield if it were ready in time.[13] Many of the stadia selected would have required minor modernisation in order to meet the strict requirements for holding World Cup tournament games, as is usual for all pre-existing stadia. The grounds in Leeds, Sheffield, Milton Keynes and Plymouth in particular were all set for an increase in capacity, whilst new stadiums proposed in Nottingham and Bristol were a part of the bid. For some reason the FA announced if England was successful, MK would be classed as being in the South West for hosting group stage games. Would MK be chosen over AG and Home Park simply because it was closed to London?

But Villa Park is a dump, didn't know they were redeveloping it though, as it stands i would pick Ibrox, Celtic Park, Croke Park, West Ham, Arsenal, Twickenham and the Merorial ground ahead of VP but i do get the geographical element

Midred
Hope Russia won't get around it by renaming the team as in other sports. Whatever the sport or name they're still funded by the government.

Baba Yaga
Turkey have withdrawn because they are going to bid to be co-hosts in 2032 with Italy. I don't mind joint bids like 2008 for instance but when the countries are far apart like those 2 then it gets a bit much.
