Weird to sign him, and not do our background research into attitude if that is the case. I presumed we were to ease him back, give him u21 games but then a proper pre-season to build fitness and challenge our first team squad. Real shame as was very excited about signing him. Lakeside Red
Wiles-Richards will not want to see that one again. The goalkeeper has attempted to play the ball to Callum Wood but he leaves it short and Sze can intercept, playing it to Adeeko who sticks the ball into an empty net. 0-

Rocky
Lots of Wilson conclusions are being jumped into on this thread, it could be totally the opposite. He had a fairly serious injury and one that will have to be managed for the rest of his career. He could have any kind of knock from training, heck he could have food poisoning and too weak to play. It could be, but pretty sure it isn’t the case sadly. Hopefully can be a change in pre season and he fights a way back, ala Vyner

Was gonna say the same. Even if it is attitude, it could be something you’d never pick up in background checks, because it could be something like psychological reaction to a major injury…which he’s never had before. FWIW I do think he might leave in the summer. Just doesn’t need to be anything sinister / negative. Although he’s played a lot as RB in his young career, it was as a RWB he came to the fore…and we aren’t playing WBs. 22 minutes ago, mozo said: Palmer-Holden seems to score lots of goals which is nice
bcfc01
Rare loss 1-2. Damaging result with Millwall winning 2-0 at HT. Means we are now 5 points behind Millwall with a game in hand. Swansea third 7 points behind us with 3 to play.

Is there a promotion at the end of it or a championship trophy , don't know how it works ?

JBFC II
Wilson could be in the u23 squad playing Manor Farm tonight to be fair, would be a bit of a step down for him!

Boston Red
Wilson was unlucky because 1. He got injured. 2. His temporary replacement Sykes did well and kept him out of the team. 3. We signed him for 5-3-2 and then stopped playing 5-3-2. 4. He is now competing against seven other right footed forwards (TC AM SB AW HC NW MS) for the right footed slot on the right of a front three. Isn't it more a case of bad luck than bad attitude? JBFC II
u23s/18s are 2 up at Manor farm after 20 minutes. Goals from Owusu-Antwi (superb finish after a lovely cross) and Hutton (tap in after some disastrous defending). Being outmuscled a bit (as expected) but playing some nice stuff so far
JBFC II
2-0 at half time. Nobody really standing out for City so far, Owusu-Antwi is rapid and looks dangerous when he gets on the ball, but has seen very little of it thus far. Interesting thing of note is we are playing 3-4-1-2. Always thought academy teams mirrored the first teams formation?
JBFC II
4-0 up now, difference in quality really starting to show. Not sure many have been a 'level' above but as a team its been a seriously professional performance. Very impressed with the City keeper, Casa-Grande. Seems to have everything you need from a modern keeper

You can tell hes had experience of mens football. Good command of his box, caught everything that has come in. Very good on the floor as well, reflexes haven't been tested but looks a good prospect. From tonight, him, Anderson (playing lwb) and Owusu-Antwi (playing rwb) have stood out imo

Personally I don't think he will. It may have something to do with the players we have available in academy's. Or it may have something to do with that type of system possibly influences the players more in their development.

I think Nige will be focussed on what is the best system for the first team, based on the players he has available. I don’t think Nige will be overly worried about the system the u21s (PDL2) or u18s (Glos Cup) play per se. It’s a “nice to have” in my opinion. The u21s have played with a back four of late anyway. Can’t comment on u18s. Certain players (quite a lot actually) in u21s have played in multiple positions, e.g. Zak Bell has played RWB, RB and RCB3, Tommy Backwell has played CM, AM, off the main striker, etc. So they are being “brought up” to be flexible. I totally get the “same system all the way through the club”, but I think it’s more about the “way” we play more than blobs on a pitch map, e.g. how we press, how we build-up play, how we create in the final third, etc. Nige has said we need to be flexible in game too, because one way won’t always work. FWIW I don’t think Nige will be planning to go to a Back Three / Wingbacks system next season.

FWIW I don’t think Nige will be planning to go to a Back Three / Wingbacks system next season. I've never been sure about this "same system throughout the club" mantra. It's one dimensional at it's extreme and totally dependent on your First Team Manager situation. The job of the Academy is to produce technical players who are "tactically flexible" and not only able to play one system. By the time you are 19/20 the Manager should be able to say we are playing X formation today and you really ought to know, subject to a few of the finer details you need to know at pro level, what your basic role is not be looking at the bloke saying "what the hell do I do now?".
