Not keen on a guard of honour for the parachute payments, and in effect, that's what you're doing . That's nothing to do with the players though. We will do it and it's the right thing to do. It was great when Chesterfield lined up for us at their place in 2015.
Mr Popodopolous
I doubt Burnley were written off but at the same time they didn't look the stand out side last summer either. Parachutes, exciting, going down in a relatively good state sure but by no means nailed on that they would be as good as they were IMO. All that change can still go either way. I'm sure they would rather have kept or loaned out instead of sold or lost at least some of the following and maybe if not for MSD loans they would have with some: Pope, Hennessey Collins, Mee, Tarkowski McNeil, Cornet Weghorst (albeit he was loaned). Added to that Wood in January 2022. Others such as Bardsley, Pieters, Stephens, Lennon and Vydra all left on a free. I'd say they are a notch down from all the above at respective stages of career etc. Some planned business was clearly brought forward come January. Long, Westwood sold/released and Lowton on loan. Their 2022-23 accounts will make for quite interesting reading owing to the huge squad overhaul, big profit on disposal, and Parachute Payments..wage falls on relegation seem likely with a club like Burnley. Oops; no the oppos applauded opur players on to the pitch. Other side ofthe coin; if at the end of a game the oppos are relegated, do we get to jeer them off the pitch?
