Selred
Off to Real. Must be a record fee for an Englishman. Not sure how he'll do at Real, lots of great young CM's.

It might not be as much as we think. Quote The Athletic stated back in November 2022 that said release clause will see them receive more than 5% of any fee the German giants receive for Bellingham. Romano's new report doesn't include any fee but a sum of £110m was mentioned in a report from The Telegraph last month. £110m - £25m = £95m (5%) £4.7m It's a chunk of money but if it's only 5% then it's not going to be silly amounts of cash.

Didn’t ever think it would be as low as 5%. Future world class player and a 5% sell on clause……. did they leave negotiations down to the lad who was on work experience that week?! Just playing out a scenario for a club strapped for cash / FFP issues (I don’t know the numbers): £25m and 5% sell-on £20m and 15% sell-on That £5m guaranteed might not have been easy to sniff at. Next transfer is OOC, total earned: £25.00m (the better option) £20.00m At £50m next sale, total earned: £26.25m (the better option) £24.50m At £80m next sale: £27.75m £29.00m (the better option) What was it with Andy Cole: £1.6m no add-on £800k with 20% Thats the story, or something like that Edited May 3 by Davefevs

spudski
Regardless of the money...going to Real Madrid is a massive cultural move. It's going to be a completely different environment to the UK and Germany. I actually feel for him regardless of money. Fair play if he pulls it off. Language, culture, history, politics, and so much more...even before kickin a ball. I think he could thrive there where others wouldn't, for the reasons you give.

As a ' normal' person going to work in Madrid at 19, that's definitely a great life experience. But add the expectations and media intrusion...to be able to perform, enjoy and please...at 19...jeez...it's a big ask.
Simon bristol
This may turn out to be correct, but i tend to go with the robbored believe it when its on the website view with this sort of thing,, there will be multiple stories in the media every week about this transfer, this one might just be another. there must be 15 likely destinations for scott available on line, not all of them can be correct, but they will have got a load of clicks
LondonBristolian
I wonder if this indirectly helps us in terms of the fee we get for Scott. I don’t necessarily think one of the big four or five clubs will be in for him but if Man Utd, Liverpool have to pursue alternatives, it might mean other PL clubs may have their options narrowed and make a bidding war more likely.
