winsaw
Both strikes are RMT not ASLEF so should be some trains running both days until around 1900
Adebolas shiny head
Appears there's a strike planned by GWR, trainline not showing any disruption yet but with match tickets going on sale tomorrow it'll be nice to know whether there's still a limited service or not
East Londoner
There is a RMT strike planned for that day, assuming GWR operate a similar service to the previous strike days there will be a limited service between Bristol Parkway and Cardiff However transport for wales are not involved in the strike action as their government has long since settled the dispute so their services will be operating normally Edited August 14, 2023 by East Londoner
Never to the dark side
drivers friday 1st september 2023 and overtime ban on saturday 2nd september the day we play Swansea sort your selves out with cars/coach travel as soon as possible
East Londoner
Worth pointing out transport for wales will not be on strike so if GWR do run services to Cardiff like on previous strike days it should be possible to get to the game by train but will be a hassle

Trains to Cardiff should still run (reduced in number) then it’ll likely be TfW from there. Luckily an early kick off for our game means trains should still be running on the way back (services usually stop earlier on RMT strike days)…just don’t hang around in Swansea too long afterwards. That’s my guess. Edited August 18, 2023 by Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan

Have tickets for Swansea away next week and was wondering how to get there due to the rail strike but apparently GWR has stated on their website that there is a train running to Swansea on Saturday leaving BTM at 8:43 arrive Swansea at 10:26 then leaving Swansea at 15:15 arriving at BTM at 17:00 hope this helps anyone else and sorry if it's been already posted. Scare_Man
Will be interesting for sure - supposed to be getting 8:38 from Severn Tunnel and changing at Cardiff, could get messy
Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan
There is also an RMT strike tomorrow. Hourly service from Bristol Parkway to Cardiff then TfW to Swansea Same coming back with the last train at 16:55. From Temple Meads, hourly service to Cardiff then TfW to Swansea. Coming back to Temple Meads last train 15:55. If this is repeated next week the early kick off may have helped us out.

Never to the dark side
Not sure of the train set's previous working(from London OR from the depot at Stoke gifford?) If you live in the North Bristol(Bristol Parkway/Filton Abbey wood) area suggest you get into BTM via public transport Just in case the train might pull into Bristol Parkway on the return or on the way there Please get your train tickets issued from Parson Street in advance as its the same price as from BTM. as it also give an indication of how many followers will use the service and what train set/s is to be used,i.e. a five car set /a nine coach set/or a two five coach set Could any one using the football special, take some photos and say how many City followers are on board

southside
carry Bristol City fans to and from their fixture at Swansea City the following, non-stop additional trains will run: 08:43 Bristol Temple Meads to Swansea (arriving at 10:26) 15:15 Swansea to Bristol Temple Meads (arriving at 17:00)
Never to the dark side
Fare for the trip is £42:50p Please get your tickets issued from parson street as its the same price not seen any special discount fares as of yet although if you were to use the split option it would be a total amount of £27:90p and group save would be an option if you only use GWR trains and NOT use Transport for wales trains

Not sure I understand the point. Affects me badly on both days. There were easily half a dozen or more fixtures last season that were rendered excessively costly or more complicated by strikes and both of these will be now too.

That’s the spin put on it, to make them look greedy. No mention of longer hours, lack of money put into the railways to keep them safe, fire and re-hire, etc. It’s a downward spiral. 1

Pure greed turning down 65k They haven't had a pay rise in 4 years, they have offered to sit down and discuss with the employers and the transport minister (who is missing in action) and the overtime ban further impacts services. If you hadn't had a rise for 4 years for an employer who was reliant on overtime to meet their service commitments, you'd probably be a tad annoyed too! However... That is getting dangerously close to an argument for the politics section, for those who are reliant on trains to get to football, maybe there is a case here for a car-share scheme or similar so that those impacted are possibly able to get to and from games whilst industrial action is ongoing. I have no idea how many people travel from London, Reading, Oxford etc, and if it's feasible for something to be organised.
