Conor Gallagher

Just dont get it with him

Just looks like a red card waiting to happen

Also

God we look poor at the back

Do we? Stones is up there as one of the best in the world, but out injured. Colwill and Tomori both talented youngish players. At right back we’re loaded with world class talent. Left back options of Chilwell and Shaw long term.

Ukraine and Poland? Are you sure about that?!

You posted a squad with players’ clubs out of date and now you announce the squad for games against Ukraine and Poland ... you’ve had a ‘Weston super’ there chief ...

You would expect BBC Sport to be correct!

Not by any means suggesting he should have made this squad but how many more England squads will there be before we see Scott's name on the list?

A matter of when, not if, in my opinion.

Would be class to see him tear it up this season and make next year's euros squad, although I think that will be slightly too soon.

As you say probably in the next campaign after the Euros, assuming he continues on his upward trajectory.

He’s not there yet, and I guess Bellingham is a comparative player who is miles ahead of him right now.

Need to update the teams they play for. At least 3 have changed team.

I don’t know where that came from but it was correct on the FA website

I missed out on tickets to both these games in the ballot which is a bit annoying, was hoping I’d get st least one.

Agree with the comments about Phillips. No way he should be in the squad at this moment, although I don’t think ward-prowse js good enough for England. Bowen probably deserved a chance.

The team 2002-2006 was at least as good and definitely less successful.

I blame Alex Ferguson for England’s lack of success. He’s the one who burrowed into the mindset of the Man U players representing England not to mix with the Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea lot.

Funny how we’re much more a solid unit since he retired at United

Stones is good with the ball but wouldn't go as far as saying world class defender ( gets into my team)

As for Shaw just like Bruno and Rashford  at utd he is ok when all is well When it gets tough he hides under the first rock he can find

It’s not a surprise though. GS won’t change.

I’ve always found him very difficult to warm to as a person.. which is odd because he’s clearly a well intentioned guy.

I know it may seem a bit unfair - but I’d get rid now if I was the FA. I just can’t see us actually winning anything with him.

All those defensive injuries amd still Ben White doesn't get a chance. Madness...

Attitude problem is my guess. Clearly something happened during the WC.

Many criticised GS for dropping Greenwood and it looks like he made the right call there so I'll trust him on this one too.

I've been a staunch GS supporter but I can't get behind Phillips being in the team at this time. Maguire I can understand because we're short at the back and he's regularly been one of our top performers, he's got some "credit" that Phillips doesn't really hold yet.

Yeah I can understand this point. I've listened to Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand on a few occasions out right say they hated the other players. Pretty sad and pathetic but doesn't surprise me with the United players from that era playing under Fergie.

It put England to shame when Spain won 3 major tournaments in a row with great players from both Barcelona and Real Madrid. Pique and Ramos did not see eye to eye but put their differences aside for Spain.

If anything the Real Madrid and Barcelona squads were much more heated in rivalry. But they always managed to come together as a nation.

Honestly, it’s overlooked how much of an effect Ferguson had on the England camp.

Well he also used to make his players at United feign injury to avoid international call ups (Ryan Giggs for Wales).
I think some of the reason he fell out with Beckham is because he actually loved playing for England and wouldn't do as Fergie told him to do.

I think Ferguson would plant seeds in his players minds when they went on international duty.

Scholes - Retired from England at 29.
Ferdinand, Neville, Rooney - All stated they wouldn't socialise with Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal players.

Just look at the Keane incident in Saipan, 2002 and his lack of respect for Mick McCarthy. Then Giggs constantly pulling out of Wales squads, Cantona pretty much being banned from France after 1994.

Been saying it to mates for a few months now, but so it’s etched in the annals of history:

We win the Euros next summer.

Stones, Rice, Bellingham, Kane and Saka are all world class (Rice the only maybe but I’ll give him the benefit).

Pickford, Ramsdale, Reece James (if fit), Trent (if used right), Walker, Shaw, Chilwell, Eze, Foden, Grealish, Sterling and post-ban Ivan Toney all excellent. 8 who have good seasons to pad out the rest.

This isn’t even blind optimism because it’s England, I’ve often said ‘it’s coming home’ but usually then whispered ‘if we avoid w, x, y and z somehow..’.

This time I just think we have the best squad, barring maybe our southern friends in France, who I’m convinced we run mighty close.

Anyway that’s 9 months away, up Nige’s mighty cider drinking reds ?⚪

I think we are a long way off that talk. Has to prove himself in the Prem first. Even then its hard to see him establish himself with the likes of Grealish, Rice and the Megastar in the making of Bellingham.

This is why we wont win anything with Gareth, he should be bedding in the youngsters who just won a tournament, yet hes giving Phillips and maguire who shouldn't be anywhere near the euros next year a place in the squad for no reason but sentimentality.

Henderson too. I'd get it if he was still playing in the Prem, but he's moved to a poor league for purely financial reasons. The moment he moved there should've been the end of his England career.

I think hendo is basically a glorified cheer leader at this point, i agree tho, hes wasting a valuable spot for someone who could get bedded in.

People saying maguire is great for england is baffling to me, hes 5th choice for a poor man united defence, if you want to win tournaments you need get rid of him.
