Stabbed in the back after falling whilst running away. Doesn't sound like hooligans engaging in a bit of consensual fighting and more like attempted murder.

Stabbed in the back once and arm twice, apart from the obvious wounds he is OK

It's the usual ultras picking off supporters

Was always going to happen , not knocking them but the geordies are out there brash loud and looking for a good time , I’m afraid most cities arnt like Newcastle , mix the two together with cowardly sneaky knife welding Italians this was the obvious outcome , hope not but wouldn’t surprise me to see the numbers rise .

Personally, I'm surprised at this (assuming it's AC Milan 'fans') , although not surprised at this happening in Italy

as far as I'm aware neither Milan club have a history of this in recent times, infact the Milan derby is known as the friendly derby and whilst hostile in the ground people mix quite freely around the ground

58 year old Newcastle fan stabbed three times in Milan ahead of tonight's match.

Some reports state trouble started Monday night. More details here;

I’ve got a feeling this isn’t related to hooliganism. The San Siro district in Milan has areas which are extremely deprived and full of migrant gangs. I would put my money on this being a robbery.

That seems likely. It happened in the Navigli area apparently and that was on the news in Italy last week after a couple of incidents when people were attacked, stabbed and robbed.
