England Vs Australia

It was crap.

A few didn't take the opportunity.

Ah well, bring on the first team for Italy.

After watching England u21s I think its an opportunity for the FA to get in a manager to get the best out of them, we have a very good group of players ready for the step up in the next year or so. Southgate isn't the manager to do that imo.

Get shot of Southgate and we could actually win something in the next few years.

Why are we playing friendly games at Wembley?

Because there is a contract between the FA and Wembley Stadium (which is owned by the FA) which currently states that all England Internationals will be played at Wembley.

It covers the huge redevelopment costs.

Southgate when he sticks to the tried and trusted players - he’s ruining are golden generation!!!!’ Where’s Tomori he’s so good for Serie A I watch every week!!! Where Colwill drop Maguire!!!

Southgate when he gives new players a chance - this is absolutely rubbish!!!!! We are crap!!! Southgate out!!!!

Is this satire? Have you watched the last 50 years of underachievement? England are not bad (this evening's match excluded). Golden generation is a bullshit tag in any case. We have good players. We came very close to winning something. We will have a decent shot again next summer.

I am a Southgate apologist but he really isn't helping himself with his support and continued picking of Henderson. Of course you know why he was booed, stop acting dumb.

Not only that, but I think tonight proved the England team have outgrown Henderson. Shouldn't be in the squad on ability alone.

... because it’s the home of football, an iconic, historic arena - both England and opposition players dream of playing there so why deny them that honour? Thought you may post a miserable post though, aren’t you the archetypal armchair fan who posts relentlessly on match day threads but never attends games? Apologies if that is incorrect but your posting output during games is prolific ...

Don’t think that’s the case.

There have been quite a few recent home games not at Wembley….North Macedonia at Old Trafford just 4 months ago, two games at Molineux last year, plus other games in recent times at Southampton, Leicester, Leeds, Sunderland, two at Middlesbrough, and one at Manchester City.

That was dire. Fortunately, watched the Bears on the iPad at the same time which relieved the boredom.

Such a  contrast to the free flowing, positive Under 21s game last night. Think we coach all the talent out of our seniors. Diabolical.

I went to the game, it really was so soulless, Australia missed some great chances. It was like a  Saturday afternoon down AG! Lack of chances, lots of endeavours and a corner of fans trying to get us going!!

May i ask how much a ticket cost? i would need to be paid to watch this game, Absolutely no offence intended........but I just fail to understand why anyone would waste their time and money attending this?

Mine was £25.
As for why people go…in many cases it’ll be for loyalty points towards the next Euros or World Cup (the more games you go to, the higher the likelihood of being guaranteed for tournaments, or for the more appealing away qualifiers).
In other cases it’ll be to keep a run going.
Or to catch up with friends from around the country who support other clubs, have a beer or two pre and post game, and discuss plans for Skopje next month and for Germany next summer (assuming we don’t mess up qualification, that is).

Feel sorry for anyone who paid to watch this shit

Unfortunately it’s all about getting CAPS

members of the travel club get 2 Caps for every home or away game they attend

with Germany just around the corner the more caps you accumulate the better chance of getting tickets for next year become

Sorry just seen your post regarding caps

totally true about catching up with mates , I’ll travel to Skopje with a lad I meet 34 years ago and still travel with

and think of the people BEANIE made lifelong friendships with in his many many years of travelling with the national team

unfortunately the football is normally the worst bit of the travelling just like city sometimes

What was everyone expecting? Joke team put out against a half decent side (they beat Tunisia and Denmark 1-0 at the WC plus put up against a good fight against Argentina). The proper game is Tuesday.

Ozzies are getting better and sometimes more entertaining than the pomms to watch.

Probably a good time to point out that there are more games than this friendly being played in this break

Absolutely Phantom!

The majority of which are of very little interest to me...

You do realise we still have 46 matches this season? We don't lose it, it just gets bumped 2 weeks later.

Of course I do! My comment relates to my (and probably millions of others) enjoyment of the intensity of following my club week in week out. How many times have City previously lost momentum at international break time?

I like watching England play and hopefully win, but the world virtually has to stop turning for international matches. Yawn...
