Jerseybean
I’m by no means ITK, but would hope that Svensson is, at least, a strong candidate. I don’t know much about him so I’m basing this on what I’ve read and what the Club have said they are looking for in a Head Coach….. On 4 January 2021 Bo Svensson became the head coach of his former club Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga. He managed a nearly impossible task, leading them out of the relegation zone by the end of the 2020-21 season, during the second half of which they picked up 32 points. The following two seasons he successfully secured his team's position in the top half of the Bundesliga table, with Mainz constantly being a strong competitor for Europa Conference League qualification. He held the position until stepping down by mutual consent on 2 November 2023, after the team began the new season with nine winless league games. Svensson installed stringent standards upon his players, as he expects tireless pressing and incisive passing when they do have possession. In fact, he can often be seen throwing his arms in frustration on the touchline when his side do not move the ball forward quickly enough. https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/bo-svensson-mainz-head-coach-departs-cup-exit-relegation-threat-jan-siewert-25247 https://theanalyst.com/eu/2022/01/bo-svensson-gatecrashing-the-bundesliga/#:~:text= https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/bo-svensson-bettering-jurgen-klopp-and-thomas-tuchel-with-mainz-21638 https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/bo-svensson-mainz-klopp-tuchel/ Previously linked with Brighton, https://www.foottheball.com/manager-in-focus/bo-svensson-news-mainz-brighton-job-coach-playing-style-tactics-prospects-career/ https://themastermindsite.com/2021/05/07/bo-svensson-fsv-mainz-05-tactical-analysis/ This is what he had to say on leaving his last job, https://youtu.be/zPlDeyp-hbA?si=RSm4hH_iihcb06p3 (translation required) https://www.planetsport.com/soccer/news/farewell-to-bo-svensson-new-era-begins-at-fsv-mainz-05 1
YGBjammy
I don't think Lansdown will ever appoint a manager from abroad, sadly. I just can't see it happening.

And Its Smith
I can’t believe Mainz sacked him after what he’s done there. Would be better than any candidate I’ve seen mentioned and for that reason we won’t even try to appoint him. Doubt Tinnion has even heard of him!
ralphindevon
When I first saw the name I thought it was our former Goalie! But that was Bo Andersen , who did go into management.

Mr Popodopolous
Incidentally, that is a much classier way than we did it. Putting aside the decision to sack NP was a disgrace, look at and compare and contrast to the lack of credit and thanks we gave NP for much of his tenure here. This had run it's course maybe at Mainz, here too soon but that is now it is done...our crap, deconditioning, promotion etc etc.

Mr Popodopolous
Had a very brief, probably too brief. He would be an intriguing candidate and fresh from 3 overall good years at Mainz one of our higher profile appointments. Two things spring to mind though: 1) Would he be used to working under a more established and perhaps higher calibre Director of Football or similar than Tinnion? 2) He seems to like a 3-4-2-1. Or a 3-4-3. I suppose with Naismith in a CM 3 you could switch a bit in-game but we've spent about 10 months using a 4-3-3. Could be a case of easily correct calibre, wrong tactical fit. Boetius? We had one until tbis summer, or potential for him to become this in the summer. This was from the May 2021 article so his first half season.
