It is very old school to see thousands of faces packed together in a random way, you just don't see that any more in a stadium. Even with terracing the numbers are limited for obvious historical reasons. The nearest I can think of in modern life would be in front of the big stage at Glasto or in front of Buckingham Palace on a royal event.
