Cureton Set To Sign For Posh?

Peterborough close on Cureton

Apparently an undisclosed fee has been agreed, with a contract of two and a half years on the table.

so much for his high hopes of div1 football.

the question is has he still got it as a player

it seems funny that reading are letting him go

and sunderland did not offer him a contract after

trials with them, and wasn't he at barnsley on trial?

it could have been a big mistake

if we signed him but we will have to wait and see

how he does at posh to judge that..

We still need a proven striker down at the gate.

Just look at our goals scored stats, yes we have the best defence in the division, but if you look at the top ten, nearly all of them have scored more.

Miller scored this year, Roberts is getting one every 15 games or so.

Come on Danny, 2 days to transfer deadline day, will we sign anyone else.

OK folks, we've just had the 5.0pm news. Jamie Cureton is "still considering" the deal he's been offered.

IMO he'll decide on Monday. Posh are one place above the bottom 4 and on Saturday they play Stockport, the club immediately behind them. Does Cureton want Div 2 or Div 3 football next season? Then again surely any offer is better than none!

The issue of whether to sign him was I think much more complex than perhaps any other in D.W.'s reign.

The reatively small settlement with the holders of his resignation is probably insignificant, however both the length & size of the contract he is looking for probably poses several concerns.Cureton certainly can score goals at our level and would no doubt before seasons end prove his worth.

The nagging concern is quite how valuble both long-term & short-term is he? Why despite a regular knack of scoring goals has he failed to hold onto his first team place week-in ,week-out? Why has he moved on from clubs seemingly "on the cheap"?

Perhaps there are valid reasons ,but value is needed for the duration of a contract and that will be even more significant if we do move up a division. We all well know from Pulis's reign how much damage can be done by having the wrong players on the wrong contacts.

A far from simple situation.
