Taz
Peterborough close on Cureton Apparently an undisclosed fee has been agreed, with a contract of two and a half years on the table. He's very keen to come back to England and we are the only club to have agreed a fee, but we've only got until the weekend before the transfer window closes. cider head
Peterborough close on Cureton Apparently an undisclosed fee has been agreed, with a contract of two and a half years on the table. so much for his high hopes of div1 football. the question is has he still got it as a player it seems funny that reading are letting him go and sunderland did not offer him a contract after trials with them, and wasn't he at barnsley on trial? it could have been a big mistake if we signed him but we will have to wait and see how he does at posh to judge that.. redrobin108
We still need a proven striker down at the gate. Just look at our goals scored stats, yes we have the best defence in the division, but if you look at the top ten, nearly all of them have scored more. Miller scored this year, Roberts is getting one every 15 games or so. Come on Danny, 2 days to transfer deadline day, will we sign anyone else. PhatWill
Not bothered about us playing Posh in a few weeks time. He has never scored against City.
22A
OK folks, we've just had the 5.0pm news. Jamie Cureton is "still considering" the deal he's been offered. IMO he'll decide on Monday. Posh are one place above the bottom 4 and on Saturday they play Stockport, the club immediately behind them. Does Cureton want Div 2 or Div 3 football next season? Then again surely any offer is better than none!
screech
I'm just amazed that City never even gave him the chance of a months trial to have a good look at him, and then make a decision on whether he could still play at a higher level or not, surely it was worth a go. Robbored
No disrespect to Posh but its something of a climb down for Cureton who surely must have thought that he's good enough for a 1st Division team. Just goes to show how much the transfer market has changed.
Stoke_Gifford_Red
WHAT!!!! how can we not afford him and they can? Blimey. Spose we have already got six strikers, and dont really need another. Because we have a board who are careful with money and think carefully before making decisions. I for one applaud them for that. If they didn't act so business like we could go the same way as Leeds.
Keepers Ball
What a complete arse-head. He could have stayed with Reading... He could have come to us............... He goes to Korea for money...claims he's unhappy.... Comes back and only gets an offer from a struggling Division 2 side !! :Hmm, yeah that's really funny Tarquin.:
lotusman
The issue of whether to sign him was I think much more complex than perhaps any other in D.W.'s reign. The reatively small settlement with the holders of his resignation is probably insignificant, however both the length & size of the contract he is looking for probably poses several concerns.Cureton certainly can score goals at our level and would no doubt before seasons end prove his worth. The nagging concern is quite how valuble both long-term & short-term is he? Why despite a regular knack of scoring goals has he failed to hold onto his first team place week-in ,week-out? Why has he moved on from clubs seemingly "on the cheap"? Perhaps there are valid reasons ,but value is needed for the duration of a contract and that will be even more significant if we do move up a division. We all well know from Pulis's reign how much damage can be done by having the wrong players on the wrong contacts. A far from simple situation.

tompo
Peterborough may have switched their attention elsewhere. http://skysports.planetfootball.com/articl...=183674&cpid=11 I thought Boulding was on his way to Barnsley.
22A
Grimsby turned down Posh's bid for Boulding, but Fry has gone back and offered £50k. The locals reckon that way Fry can "prove" he is trying to improve Posh's situation.
