East End

I gotta agree with Neo on this one.

Why would the board give their fans something they want?

It would make a refreshing change :dunno: maybe. There again the cost, trouble making yoof and the to much hassle things may be brought out again. :dunno:

Logic :-

1. Club have a much discussed policy not to act on rumour so no surprise that nothing has been said on this if it isn't true. But, you would expect them to if it was true. Sooner rather than later as season ticket sells would received an instant boost.

2. Even if both turn-stiles are going to be open, so what? If the club is going to continue to encourage schools, groups etc. to the Gate, both turn-stiles will be open for this.

3. When there has been a bigger game like Swansea or Notts Forest there has been netting next to a few blocks of empty seats next to a row of police next to an empty roped-off block at the bottom of the Dolman.

If the club take that many precautions (we are talking 60/70 yards between rival fans), why would they suddenly allow 1,500 odd season ticket holders to take up the empty blocks and netting area?

The thought would give poor Mr Draisey sleepless nights for months.

4. They can't make 200 odd buoyant, vocal lads in G Block sit down now. How are they going to "steward" 1,500 like-minded fans who want to get the party mood going?

The truth is, last seasons concerns have not gone away and will never go away (in some club officials minds). The club have said previously that the East-End will only be open as an over-flow or to let arranged groups in. Why would they change that?

This whole thread is based on rumour and hope, not logic.

Now, on a personal note. You have forced me to post a (half) thought-out thread for the first time in months. Don't do it again! :w00t:

Fair comments Obi One. But in the other direction;

When vocal supporters have been in E Block Williams and G Block Dolman over the past two seasons, the club has been quite touchy about both situations. So, rather than "cause hassle to others supporters" by singing (quotation from a letter to G Block from Mr. Draisley) and being vocally supportive of our team, would it not be easier for the club to put all of these people into The East End. As in the clubs eyes, policing and stewarding could be far more effective and the situations more controlled.

Also, I would imagine it would financially benefit the club. A figure of £75,000 was suggested as the cost for opening the East End for a season, covering Stewards and so forth. I would envisage that the interest in the East End alone would be an incentive for fans to buy a season ticket or match day ticket in the East End, covering that overall cost and making a tidy profit.

Finally, it scores points with the fans. I’m already aware; as you are that the club doesn’t treat us like they should. The badge issue is a prime example of this. But of late the deal with Puma and soon further redevelopment of Ashton Gate shows they are at least aware of our importance and opening the East End would restore my faith in the Board, with the supporters being favorable towards the board being what they desire, they can simply do that by opening the East End.

That said, still can't see it happeneing. We can pray though. ;)

Beers in hand no doubt!

Should be good, even though, no doubt, we won't be allowed in Block N again (lower Dolman below G), as we might shout naughty, risque chants at our inbred friends from roundabout town.

Atmosphere; that will never do!

See pm over yonder

We have mentioned methods of over coming all problems, but simply people do want to go in the Eastend 400 or more prepaired to spend more on a season ticket than usual for it to happen

Perhaps the most easist way 16 over only season tickets only, and your banned if to much trouble

Do away with the barriers/fencing for gawds sake, if Man u with 70000 can cope with a few rows of seats segregation then why cant we :dunno: If fans really wanted to "get at" each other the low barrier at the front of all sides is no barrier at all.

This obsession that there is going to be mass riots at every home game is just a bit out dated,it hardly ever occurs now, anywhere. The children will "play"where ever they are.
