Are my words coming true a couple of weeks before training starts and we have not signed a player yet

Do you NEVER read what anyone posts on here??

I,and many others without your pessimism, believe that GJ has players lined up, and we will sign somebody of (hopefully) decent quality in the following weeks. Contract negotiations take time, and players are on holidays. These things take time, unless you are a big club. ie Man Utd with Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves, and Chelsea with Pizzaro, Ben Haim, and Alex, as playing for these clubs is a no-brainer.

Even considering that Chelsea haven't spent a penny, Liverpool haven't signed a single player either, and they're a much bigger club than we are.

It happens, get over it.

Just two things that's what worries me we will sign somebody, will we get back Smith see if he can score in the championship he never in the first division.

Be under absolutely no doubt that Johnson has identified who he wants.

There are a number of reasons why new players don't sign 'before the end of May'.Namely most current contracts end in June and then players are away on their summer hols.Contract negociations can take a time as well.

Admire your total confidence,my concern is his 4th,5th, or 6th choices.Only a few months back we were being told how sophisticated our monitoring system was with 50 players on just the strikers list.We managed to sign the one that had never scored a goal in England!

In fairness Liverpool & Chelsea are not stepping up a division and do indeed already have a wealth of talent.

We go forward with the concern that the championship maybe a step too far for the likes of:Basso.Orr,Carey,Betsy,Showumni,Jevons,Wilson,Johnson,Murray.Hopefully one or two will shine,and one or two will add depth to the squad.Yet it would be nice to see a couple of quality arrivals fully integrated into the club when pre-season training begins.

There are millions of Football Players in the world, a fair chunk of whom will have been scouted by Johnson & co in the past few weeks. Just because we don't know of any activity doesn't mean there isn't any. It's not like Belgium, Africa, Czech Republic, Germany & Italy and wherever else they went are going to run out of quality players during the next couple of weeks. We have nearly 2 months to sign the required quality players, enough time to look elsewhere if our first-choice targets don't come off. With the amount of players viewed by the team, who made 2 visits to many of the countries listed above, there's plenty of time yet.

You are not suggestion that the first league game we have new players being introduced into the team we need to have new players at the start of pre season training.

It's 18th June, we've already got several key players (and an exciting young prospect) tied to new contracts, we've signed a back up goalie (who is a first choice youth international), by all accounts we've got an international striker coming on trial over our preseason tour (the icelander) and we still have over two months of the summer window open.

what the **** do you want GJ to do, tell all about his 'possible' signings and ruin deals he is no doubt carefullly trying to complete before most of the players involved have even got back off their holidays? personally ring you nd give you all the tiny details of his potential signings? we'll know when deals are done. McAllister and Johnson only signed after the season had started, so their is no proof whatsoever that signing early means signing quality.

All teams look to add to their squad of players all the time, but City are still looking to get a few players and a striker to make up the squad to start off the season with.

After last season when I think we were very lucky to get away without a central striker, and that we have not got one in place we just have Brooker at the moment who resembles anything like a target man and with his fitness is in question.

I fear for next season and must be favorites to go back down again if we don't sign quality players.

Teams Like Norwich Charlton and many more they don't ring up and tell me they have just signed so and so I look at the test on TV to see who they have added, but my main interest is City and we are still looking.

All promoted sides who haven't yet signed anyone of note they didn't have playing for them last year. No one is arguing we don't need the type of player you mention, it's the fact your slagging off the man who just got us promoted only a month ago for not doing something he'll most likely do in the end anyway that exposes you for the utter crank you are.

and as for the 'central striker' issue, what role did Enoch play for the last matches of the season? left back? if i remember rightly he was the focal point of our 4-4-1-1 and did a pretty good job in tough games against the likes of Carlisle.

At the end of the day there is just under 2 months to go,if nothing as happened in say 4 weeks then we may have cause to worry, but 4 weeks is along time in football,I believe GJ is doing the right thing in keeping things under wraps untill signings are tied up,how many time have players slipped through a clubs net because of other clubs being alerted to who they were after?

I agree with the fact that it may be beneficial to have new players in place for the start of pre season just to get there bearings and to begin to learn the game of the players around them, but in saying that i would say 95% of all city fans including myself have complete faith in what the management team are doing behind the scenes. GJ has stated on more than one occasion that he is unwilling to reveal his targets in case it alerts other clubs to the fact the player may be avalible. We are all excited about the upcoming season but come on AY don't let your excitment turn to blind panic and worry. Have faith in gj as you put it 'we didnt have a main striker' and he still got us promoted. Does this not show what a great manager we have in charge?? Plus I was under the impression that football is a team game and as with last season I would expect other players to chip in with goals to help out the striker whomever he may be.

Is that the same Norwich who have signed the mighty John Otsemebor, and the same Charlton who have signed a massive 2 players? Norwich have been linked to Eastwood & Sharp - but it doesn't matter if they are from their point of view, since it's hardly like the 2 players are under cover.

The only difference it will make with signing players now and during pre-season training will be their signing-on fee getting spent on the bar overlooking the beach.

Any player we go after will have been look at before now and may be not what the team is looking for. Now a days clubs keep tabs on players all around the world so to think we have secret players hidden away is a bit far fetched

Johnson said in the EP that it he does not expect any major signings before the end of June this has me worried sounds like some one going around Christmas Eve looking for a bargain and ending with what is left.

I would have hoped that City would have identified the player they wanted and signed them up by the end of May I hope with the increase of season tickets we are going to get players and not rookies

I'll tell you what why don't we just sign anyone who has chapionship experience. Has it occured to you that these things take time. Who else has been signing lots of players?? Just becasue we haven't signed anyone doesn't mean we are not trying. For all you know we're waiting for the U21 championships to finish so we can sign Matt Derbyshire on a season long loan.

Last season we needed a front player from about November we waited to the transfer window at Christmas then the loan period after Christmas right up to the end of the season we ended up with someone who has never scored in English football playing up front and Showunmi. We were told Johnson was looking but we never got anyone so thats why I am a little bit weary about him.

Now we are a couple of weeks away from the start of training and we still not got anyone and we seem to be looking at youngsters like the Germany lad instead of someone who has some experience.

If we don't have players in place at the start of training getting used to playing with the rest of the team we are going to have a hard time. If you start off losing it can be a hard habit to break and when you are at the bottom its a battle all the time to get out of it.

Last season our defence carried us a lot of games this season they will have there work cut out trying to keep other teams forward lines in check and will not be in the position to carry the rest of the team.

We are moving up a league and teams will be a lot harder to beat fans talk about Coventry and how we beat them yea you will get results like that in one off matches but playing week after week is a different ball game trying to raise your game.

I think some fans will have their eyes opened by teams next season
