Trundles Free Kick

If anyone knows Trundle, or knows someone who knows his cleaners son, can we try and find out what was behind the free-kick in Saturday?

I laughed at the time - but I have just completed the 3 hour drive back and had it running through my mind the whole way back. The height, pace, and side foot technique were bizarre. It was almost as if he were trying to delicately place into the knackers of one of the Preston players.

He was trying to place it under the wall and catch the keeper out.

Ronaldino did it last season for Barca.

Its alright to try it when were 2/3-0 up but not at 0-0 in a game of few chances. If he wouldve taken it properly, i think he wouldve scored. But no, Trundle being Trundle, he had to try and be different.

And if it had come off everyone would be saying how great it was?

You can't have it both ways...

But it didn't come off, it was wasted. Goals like that should be left to the worlds greatest players, no LT23

Exactly, and even if it did come off, people, probably myself included would still say the same that its a stupid free kick to try, especially at 0-0 and that 9 times out of 10 it wouldnt go in.

....looks an idiot if stupid free kicks don't come off.

for someone who always sticks up for Lee (lets try the hollywood pass everytime) Johnson, you sort of contradict yourself by slagging off trundle for trying something different...

True, but you shouldn't be slated for trying something different.

If you expect things to work every time you're a fool!

He's scored enough special goals over the past few seasons which he wouldn't have scored if he'd played safe.

Read what i said earlier! If were 2/3-0 up then that's the time to try it. But at 0-0 in a game with very few chances, it should be a proper free kick, in the top corner, so the city fans could celebrate a very fortunate 3 points.

I'm just bantering.....there is a time and a place for fancy freekicks, at 0-0, I think it's better to put a good cross into the box for one of guys to get a head to.

Considering that at that time our guys had hardly got a head to anything in the box, I would have thought it was just the time to try something different.

OK it didn't work.

If it had, we would have had a thread on here saying what wonderful vision the guy had!

He was in a shooting position, no doubt about it, but not a shot like he tried, not at 0-0. It is nice to try something new, but not something like that at 0-0.

I'm sorry but what difference does it make with regards to the score.

If he scores at 0-0 it doesn't matter how he does it. If he'd have tried a shot and it went blazing over the bar what exactly is the difference?

but when was the last time we scored from a freekick? we don't have a freekick specialist ie tins barnard etc so why not try smething different?

just out of interest were u at walsall a couple of years ago when lita shot from 40 or so yards and the keeper messed it up and it went in? what were your thought when nayim shot from the halfway line against arsenal and won the uefa cup? don't no if your old enoughto remember the 2nd one but just pointing out that sometimes something different can work

Because, IMO, at 0-0, in a game of few chances (sorry about the broken record here!) its not the time to try flashy things. Stick to the basics, get them right, then try the flashy things.

During his match commentary, Kevin Betsy says that he's seen Trundle score 6 out of 6 free kicks in training, and he was expecting him to hit the target.

It didn't work out, but I wouldn't write him off as a free-kick taker just yet.

Was that with or with out a cardboard cutout goalie? :dunno:

well, it's pretty obvious from your constant sniping at Lee Trundle that you don't like the bloke whatever he does, so if he had scored you'd most likely had labelled it a fluke anyway.

So you'd moan if he scored a genius free kick to win us 3 points away we didnt deserve?

In fact, you're wrong, if we had scored, yourself probably included, would have said great free kick and thats why you pay a million pound.

Hindsight is great eh?

No i wouldnt moan if he scored a "genious free kick", but that was a stupid free kick to try at 0-0.

In fact, don't try and tell me what my own opinions are because what i said is absolutely true.

What a buch of idiots, so te guy misshit a freekick wow

Beckham does it nearly every time he takes a frre kick for England but nobody makes a comment.

You so called fans do not deserve a team like bristol city, you should be here watching football then you could moan.

Give the man a break, I'm sure a lot of you arent world beaters when it comes to your work, if you do work

Very clever and mature pointing out my spelling mistakes, btw capital I. :disapointed2se:

No is isnt true, its your opinion.

No free kick equals a goal and if he tried a normal free kick it could have hit the wall or flew over the bar.

So we should add "not scoring a free kick" to Trundle's previous heinous crime of not being Niall Quinn then?

Would be enough to hang, draw and quarter perchance?

Perhaps he was simply trying to score and didn't, like 95+% of free kicks around the box. Just a thought like.
