Stoke City

I will certainly be giving him some aggro. That man nearly made me pack in watching City with his awful style of play.

Now we just need the lads to STUFF Stoke! Will they be singing that awful Deliah song? It grates on me as much as Goodnight bloody Irene!! :whistle2:

Yep Kate, that song gets up my backside as well.

16,000 booing him when he enters the Lion,s den though, should be spot on!!!!!

A classic case of "As You Sow, So Shall You Reap"!!....I have never been a boo boy, but this is one opportunity that I am looking forward to. :reaper:

In the 30 years I have been watching football, Stoke have always been a dull, boring and negative team with few flare players. Somehow it seems a match made in heaven.

I note that one tabloid has Clueless as a candidate for Norwich!

30 years, well fair enough, but they've usually been above us in that 30 years. Oh and then pre 30 years ish:

Matthews, Banks, Shilton, Greenhoff brothers, Hudson, Salmon, Eastham. Some flair players there.

Not sure I'd put two keepers as 'flair'. I agree that there have been a few decent players (Was Brian Greenhoff 'Flair'?), but on the whole they have been deadly dull. Was it not Alan Durban who said 'If peoplw want entertainment, they should go to the circus'?

Okies let's not go too far - I know you are joking - but lets not remember what OTIB is always remembered for during Pulis's reign.

I always said paying an assassin would be good value for money but thankfully Portsmouth were stupid enough to make the point moot :)

I'm not sure he was a god, was he? The guy I'm thinking of was a Danish king of England who emphatically proved that he was not a god and got his feet rather wet in the process.

Well in my day they called him Canute, but it's trendy to spell it C*N*U*T now. Presumably that's why the Icelandic sagameisters took him on - clearly misread the graffiti.

Warm welcome for Pulis?

I'll tell the boys to start boiling the oil.

Dishonest, conniving scumbag of a man who did his best to ruin our club for a few quid in a brown envelope.

Do you think they'll let me in with a rifle?

As long as it hasn't got a top on it you'll be OK

Lots of stuff on here about Pulis already but one look at his record and Stoke's will tell you he's no mug in the results department and they missed out on the play offs last season courtesy of a last day 1-1 draw, finishing 8th.

His record of 41.50% of wins compares with our own GJ's at 47.91% and, in fairness, Pulis's have been in the CCC without a pile of dough.

His record this time around under the new owner at Stoke is: P53 W22 D14 L17.

They're just behind us and have only lost once

As I've said, I'm no fan of binary football and having a stiff neck from gazing into the air for ninety minutes, but ex managers have a habit of biting clubs a bit like ex strikers, as John Ward proved last season at Cheltm.

I'm not saying he shouldn't get a hostile reception or that, God forbid, I'd like him back-I'm just advising caution and I'm sure GJ'll make sure we play the game not the occassion.

I don't care what results the man got or what resources he had (in fact that would be irrelevant since he would only spend them on players that made him cash - which was why Stoke sacked him the first time before his mate bought the club). Pulis is a lying dishonest scumbag that we spent years recovering from, and I can't stand him. He tried to make money for himself out of selling Akinbiyi on, he spent a fortune of our money on players that were old and either shit or injured or both.

Be cautious about what exactly? I wouldn't be displeased if he spontaneously combusted on 90 minutes.

PB, nothing to do about PULLIS as a person, just about the sad things he said about our club.

He will get a welcome he deserves...

I can promise that I won't be letting anybody down a week on Saturday and will be giving Pulis plenty. He totally ruined my enjoyment of football for a long time. I'm certainly not condoning mindless violence in any way, shape or form but the way things are going the bloke is going to need a Police Escort both into and out of Ashton Gate. All it needs is one nutter to take it a little too far. I wonder if that point has been considered by the club/police. The last thing the club needs is a points deduction or ground closure because some lunatic managed to "stick one" on Mr Clueless.

As for sticking one on him..........not a chance(and as you say rightly so)

I wasn't aware of that (the money bit, not the other bits) and I wonder why we didn't sue him or was the compo of Pompey and the fact that he was going enough??

Be cautious about what exactly? I wouldn't be displeased if he spontaneously combusted on 90 minutes.

Blimey, now that would be worth £30 POD!

About Stoke-the team, not it's manager, because all this hype could create another night like Cheltm last season.Like I said, play them, beat them and he'll suffer enough.

When he was Gillingham manager he had a clause in his contract giving him a cut of profit made on transfers. He sold us Akinbiyi for £1.2m. Then moved here, sold Akinbiyi to Wolves for £3.5m, of which we had to give Gills 30%. After he moved on from here he tried to claim a cut of the 30% from Gills under the terms of his contract, I think he actually took them to court over it (amongst other things).

This was in the public domain at the time but for some reason never seemed to get commented on. At the very least it was a huge conflict of interest, to my mind it's dishonest scummery of the lowest kind.

It's notable as well that he was sacked by Stoke's previous Icelandic owners for "failing to exploit the foreign transfer market", or as I like to refer to it "signing the same sort of aging crocks looking for a last payday".

If I was Lord Stevens I know whose rubbish I'd be going through.

Blimey, now that would be worth £30 POD!

I'd never moan about ticket prices again if it happened. You hear that SteveL? You can make it happen!

Yeah fair enough, I hope we can send him packing with no points.
