Would you like to see banners around the stadium like some of the foreign stadiums you visit? We have the fans to make it happen. Using your links it would be more likely to happen.

How far are you going back? In the mid 90s the over-riding impression that away fans got of Ashton Gate was that owing to some bizarre quirk of local bye-laws Bristol City had to play their games in a big open-air public library.

The embarrassment of how quiet we were led to the foundation of the Eastend Ultras to provide the atmosphere that was very much lacking in most games.

Last season was loud and enjoyable anyway because we kept winning; this one is a step back in time.

No it wasn't, it was an embarrassment. Far quieter than this season which has also been poor, but still on par with the rest of the league. Let's face it there are no atmospheres in English football anymore.

It always amuses me that a fair number of City fans think our atmosphere is really poor or at least not as good as many other teams. When you speak to supporters of other clubs, or look on sites like the Football League Grounds Guide, opposing fans always comment on how good the atmosphere is at the gate. For the past 18 months we have been playing on a building site with large open areas so that is bound to affect the atmosphere.

In conclusion, I'm not saying the Gate is a cauldron, but it certainly holds its own in English football and we shouldn't play up to myths usually started by those super fans of Bristol Rovers, all 5000 of them.

Forza Eastend didn't really exist. The ideas behind a tongue in cheek concept were also an attempt to influence BCFC. Do something well and Bristol City may react more favorably in future. Some of it was a success, some of it costly shambolic failures, funny shambolic failures e.g streamer display.

Last season was enjoyable but hardly loud within the inappropriately named singing section.

What Ashton Gate would benefit from is joined up thinking. Ashton Gate does not have to be sterile The club is blessed with energetic fans, who will get off their backsides and make things happen,.Making things can at times be incredibly difficult, it can takes, months, sometimes seasons. What would be of benefit would be looking at how the difficult can be made more easily. A flag policy was promised, months ago, it was being written, it has disappeared into the ether, get it out, send out clarion call #wavegettheflagsout. That type of joined up thinking will not push back the sterile nature of modern football, but it could easily and realistically help to create a Ashton Gate that is at least more colourful.

Nothing worse to be told to make an atmosphere...how false is that?

Fans make an 'atmosphere' naturally...when they feel passionate and excited about something.

The atmosphere reflects the 'product' on show. And the surroundings. Lets face it...whatever way you try to make it feel and look, rocking up to football now, feels like going to the cinema. Show your ticket, buy your drink and hot dog, directed to your seat and sit in your comfy chair...whilst listening to some piped soothing music that kills the soul.

Also take into account, that the majority of fans at the Gate are of the older generations...many find breathing a struggle...let alone singing and chanting  ;-)

Football isn't ever going to return to how it used to be.

If you want an atmosphere, try going to Venus. Composed primarily of carbon dioxide trapped in by opaque clouds of pure sulpheric acid, with an average surface temperature of 467 degrees. Now that's an atmosphere!

Why doesn't dear leader arrange some choreography like that seen in best Korea?

Haha I didn't mean the OP, North Koreans call Kim "Glorious Leader", who I was replying to.

Missed that. No need for communists. There are fans here who can create a bit of ideological movement themselves.

Thought on Saturday the loudest the chant actually came from the South Stand

The only time I was really aware of the Atyeo fans was when they were chanting we can see you sneaking out to fans in the dolman stand

But do agree it's all gone quiet this season, would guess the constant moving of fans around the stadia doesn't help. lets hope things resolve themselves in the future

Very hard to do anything in the South Stand this season. Being constantly told to sit down and be quiet from people behind and also being moaned at for going to the toilet is really killing my buz at the moment.

Cannot emphasize how much I really hope there's an unreserved singing section next year in the South Stand. ( I didn't say standing section as that's not allowed ;))

We Bristoaliens are very dignified sorts . We don't go in for making a spectacle of ourselves like those oiks from the North or those classless Cockney shirt  fronts .

To make a noise we need to lose our selfconsciousness , two things do this , excitement and drama which rises our dander and/or alcohol .

Not complicated .

Nothing will change till there is a big mentality shift.

  • The Atyeo is full of people who stand for 90 mins in silence with their arms crossed.
  • Too many will only sing in reaction, after a goal or a big tackle for example.
  • People moaned about flags being in the way. Try the South Stand for a similar price but no flags.
  • The main body of song starters are in the corner of the stand. they should, imo be more central to get everyone going. (sorry guys)
  • I think there should be an organised group of fans who could help create banners (proper big uns) rather than well meaning but poorly executed attempts by individuals.
  • Finally get the line about the Gas out of Drink Up. Why dirty our song with their name.

There already are. Fans financing is there to make this occur. What needs to happen is to look at how it can be made easier for fans to display flags and banners.Fan are running into barriers such as being asked to provide method statements and risk assessment for flags in order to display them in the Dolman. This was not always the case. While progress has been made it is slow.

Simple things like this flag dispalying aid at Old Trafford would make things easier.

But it is more than flags though. An organised group can help bring people together to aid with an atmosphere.

There are people in the Atyeo and also the Dolman who can make this happen. The lads in the Atyeo are organised. They are making things happen and some are down the ground at 10am setting up, like fans in the Eastend were. They are willing to help others, but they cannot do things for others in stands they do not occupy.

Those in the Atyeo have to  stand up  sit down and organise themselves.

Stands have different roles but its unfair to expect those in the South stand to do as others can , because rules / policies and demographics differ stand to stand. Try standing in the Dolman and South stand and?

It is should be easier to address things like creating a more colourful Ashton Gate matchday e.g Look at how and why things are so hard to achieve, then remedy this.

Simple things like this would help create a less sterile ground. Atmosphere nationally is a much debated topic, it will take more than a few banners to sort it.
