  1. Ummm no, what people are saying is that you really don't know how Charlton's game and mentality would have adapted to modern football and training methods so, whilst it is quite possible he would still be amongst the greats, it is also possible that he may have been one of the ones that fall by the wayside because he just wasn't suited to it.
  2. I think he means one weekday evening game and one weekend 3pm game instead of two evening games.
  3. Lincoln did, Gainsborough Trinity are the team being talked about as never relegated until then. Had me confused for a while. P. S. Weston were similar, their relegation from National League South a couple of season's back was the first in their history.
  4. Why would next weekend's game be at risk? Only possible reason I can think of is police being drafted into London to take part in Funeral rehearsals, and I can't imagine Burnley v City is a very police intensive match.
  5. All social media can be a cesspool of hate, but only if you search for it. I found more of an issue with Facebook, when there were 'friends' added that I hadn't seen or spoken to in years that started spouting the Daily Mail type bile you seem to get around sometimes. A quick 'unfriend' soon sorts that. Never had that with Twitter as I tend to know what I am letting myself in for by the very people I choose to follow.
  6. I often wonder that myself, my twitter feed is generally quite a positive place to be, unless you include taking the piss out of the government as horrible.
  7. Why assume it's Big Al? Might be Toby
  8. My last game there was a 5-1 defeat (under Tinnion maybe?) I seem to remember the Manchester on the sea front having a pre match show something akin to the White Horse at Wycombe, though maybe a bit softer.
  9. Fair enough, I must have missed that option. Certainly don't think they email though do they? Away tickets are usually a physical item, though I admit I don't go away as much as I used to these days.
  10. I thought away tickets were either collect in advance at AG or collect from the ground on the day?
  11. Reading that it sounds like it came from the Barnsley fans? Or do I have that wrong?
  12. I hadn't noticed it was after the stand burning, thought it always looked like that!
  13. About 2 years before my time, but I presume the two nearest the camera are Skeletor and Keith Curle. Apart from it being Eastville not sure what else we are looking at?
  14. Nah, you've just been taken in by the hype around a culture war that doesn't exist. Nobody bar a few extremists is offended by the use of Man Of The Match.
  15. You did, and it's not made it any less crap or annoying
  16. Did he ever miss one? They were that sort of thing that looks great until it goes wrong
  17. What on earth were you doing going there? Plenty of other barbers that aren't die hard fewers.
  18. 1. The OP was about an article in the Telegraph about Alex Scott 2. Your initial reply said that the article would have placed Alex Scott at the top of the Premier League club's radar 3. When somebody asked you "Because of a Telegraph article?" your reply didn't say it would be silly to think that Premier League clubs do their scouting through the press, instead you explained the top managers don't read the tabloids, thus implying very heavily that you think an article in the Telegraph would have raised Premier League manager's awareness of Alex Scott. Please tell me where I went wrong here and how you didn't mean that an article in the paper would tip off top managers about one of our best players who is almost certainly being tracked by these clubs already?
  19. So you think that top managers do their scouting through the broadsheets and it doesn't strike you as at all ridiculous to think that they do their scouting through the press at all?
  20. You'd hope it was an attempt at a very misguided joke, but I fear not. These people still seem to exist.
  21. The shop told me there will 100% not be the £10 credit or any discount. It will be some kind of loyalty points scheme.
  22. Don't wait until Saturday, act now, call the club
  23. Good knowledge, but not sure how that will make you feel old when Sam Bell playing for us doesn't!
  24. I've tried to watch the 100, I really have, but the presentation style turns it into "Cricket For Dummies" with the most godawful graphics you can imagine. The format might be feasible, though it's just a variation/complication on T20 (which is globally popular and easy to follow), and seems to be a case of fiddling with the format for change's sake rather than identifying any shortcomings and working to improve them. I love cricket, but really cannot stand the 100. Though I have tried, I really have.
