  1. Some people on Rovers forums may have got a tad carried away with the wealth of our new owners. However, most Rovers fans I know, are well aware that they aren't they are not in the league of Russian oligarchs, or for that matter Steve Lansdown. I am certainly not expecting them to start flashing the cash at big name signings (nor would I want them to). I do think that they probably have a lot more acumen than Nick Higgs when it comes to the funding of a new stadium, and that the possibility of a new ground is as close as it as ever been. Having said that, I will believe it when I'm sat watching a game in it!
  2. I've seen the word 'scum' bandied about on here and many other forums. Vile word used by people who don't think about what they are saying.
  3. I had to 'unlike' this after I read this bit
  4. Well in that case had the referee given the foul on our keeper when Dover equalised in the last minute in our penultimate game, we would have gone up in first place instead of Barnet.
  5. True, but anyone who gets promoted (or relegated) has some good luck (or bad luck) throughout the season. If you say Rovers were lucky to go up because of a decision going our way in the play off final, then by the same token you would have to acknowledge that we were unlucky to go down after we battered Mansfield and did everything but score in our last game. We got relegated because we deserved it, and we got promoted because we deserved it.
  6. I suspect they were going to offer him a contract anyway, but obviously once Leeds were involved it needed to be more attractive. Not many employers chuck around big pay rises just because they think it's a nice thing to do, they do it because they need to keep someone happy.
  7. No not really. If a team gets promoted, it's because over the course of a season, they have done what is required to get promotion!
  8. In my defence I'm very short so it went right over my head
  9. Ah right, maybe it was just the one thread that stuck in my head then. BTW, I would never judge an entire fanbase , by what gets posted on a forum, but I think I maybe in a minority on that one
  10. I was at the Alfreton game, and was aware of the 'coach incident' and the people who did it. Very sad.
  11. I haven't heard that before, but I certainly remember some of our fans not being keen, much in the same way Cotterill (and Lee Johnson) were slated by some City fans in the early days.
  12. I don't really know who is looking for a manager at the moment, but using Sheffield United as an example, they have just gone for a lesser known name, and if a club of that stature came in for him, I think he would jump at the chance. The sad reality of football today is that if we do begin to struggle in League One, fans can turn very quickly (and that applies to fans of ALL clubs), and I'm sure DC is aware of that. Unless he performs absolute miracles next season, It's hard to see his stock going anywhere but downwards from it's present high point.
  13. Err, okay, but I don't quite see your point.
  14. Sadly I agree. Although to 'plateau' at the moment would be no disgrace, I suspect he knows now is his moment, although I'm sure a better offer than Leeds (in their current state) will come along if he bides his time a little longer.
  15. Just highlighting the key word for you right there.
  16. I don't know. Why did you add to it?
  17. Blackbeard was from Fishponds. We may have been non league, have smaller crowds, be in a lower division and never won the JPT, but when it comes to genuine pirate credentials we are the kiddies
  18. Capital letter at the start of a sentence please.
  19. About 6/7 of us? Cue predictable responses suggesting 6/7 is actually a large amount for us Of course it would have been many more than 6/7, but many of us were locked outside the forum.
