Disagree. He’s not the best Estonian to play for us.

    Because he’s Moldovan.

Excellent point - and one I was very much aware of, not sure at what point my brain said Estonian was the way to go

hands down the best Moldovan to play for us!

I don't that we'll ever sign better name than Ion Tistemetanu. That summer we also got Vilmos Sebok and Bo Anderson, a goalkeeper who was supposed to be the next Peter Schmichael. All looked to be exciting signings for what turned out to be a terrible season.

hands down the best Estonian to ever play for us - loved him, assistant manager of Estonia now infact

Bo Anderson really was class but beset by injuries if I remember correctly, went through a stage of them trying to replace welch, Billy mercer etc I’m a sucker for a keeper in trousers and they both fit that brief

"Where I do have some sympathy with the Lansdowns is Nige's health. A current as yet undiagnosed neurological condition that is basically making Nige immobile would have to be a consideration if you are thinking about giving him a longer contract.  It sounds quite concerning to me.

Football is a ruthless business and, where possible, you do need everyone firing at 100%.

Nige seems unbothered by it, which is a great mentality to have, but I think we have to accept it must be at least a point of consideration for the owners going forward"

Your comments about Nigels health is why you are on my ignore list.

Seems to be a pretty reasonable assessment that. Not like he was throwing expletives around telling him to get the **** out if the club etc. you’d never see people saying that about people at our club right??

The decent thing would still be to explain the reasons on sacking. Or alternatively keep them private entirely. Not telling the manager and then revealing it in public is outright poor behaviour. And suggesting the manager caused it on purpose is frankly odd without evidence.

I might be a little out of the loop - don’t think I’d seen this made public, certainly don’t recall this being discussed on here? Injury record was but not this directly. I could be wrong

To his credit, I felt he seemed quite magnanimous. He was really positive about the club, the fans and a lot of the staff and I felt his view of his sacking came across a basically "it happens, it's shit but why rake up all the mud?". Like you, I don't honestly think Nigel would have got us that much higher in the table. I could argue we could have been 8th or 9th maybe but I honestly think 8 of the 11 teams above us have better squads than us and would always have been favourites to finish above us.

There's plenty I'd criticise Tinnion for but I find it entirely plausible he was as surprised as everyone else by JL's deconditioning comment and then had to manage the fallout.

A strong reminder that this is of course a business and a relatively cut throat one at that. Nige is a big boy and knows that’s it’s not personal, even if the problem was based on personality

When all the truth comes out about Nigel Pearson's departure, the final story might not be quite the Disney film that some people are expecting, full of heroes and villains. Maybe, just maybe, Jon Lansdown is not a bumbling buffoon, perhaps Brian Tinnion is not actually an evil schemer and, possibly, Nigel isn't the ideal employee everyone would want to have working for them.

While I 1000% agree with the view that Nigel Pearson is not the saintly martyr he has been held up as, All the things you’ve said can be true at the same time.

apart from the tinnion thing. The pillorying of a club legend on here has been nothing short of disgusting

Here we go! The “just enjoy the win” crew are out because it’s a bit awkward for them.

Trust me, nobody is enjoying the win more than me this evening.

Well done City, and most of all, well done Liam. 🤫

    COYRs

The “give it a rest” crew wouldn’t know irony if it smacked them repeatedly in the face. I wish I was big enough to rise above it, but the problem is never complaints or concerns about the team but the way it is presented - repeatedly thread after thread of the same nonsense so I think it’s only right for the more level headed to also have their fun.

what a bloody manager. OTIB doomsayers, can you hear me? your boys doled out one hellllllllllllllllllllllllll of a beating

That’s the first time I’ve seen Blackburn Rovers forum and it further shows that we football fans are very similar to each other regardless of which club you support.

What are you talking about? this forum is my only source of news so naturally I believe everyone else is having an absolute party out there with constant dizzying success - this is not the case?

Passionate fans discuss the club they've supported all their lives on forum dedicated to said club, news at 11

Difference between passion and throwing round “hate” which is at the milder end of what’s been said

Hate the owners? What a very sad comment

Agreed. It’s unbelievable how in a twist some fans can get their knickers into over a game. I think some may need to get out more

    A fair summary.

But the specific new competency element of the proposed new Directors test will be relevant to our board of two.

As will, potentially, any terms of the new Code for Football Governance. As and when that is published I think we will see that changes to our board of directors is necessary in order to comply.

Haven’t read it really apart from knowing it is generally a good thing for the game. How does it affect someone more ‘stable’ like us out of interest?

  12. 27 minutes ago, ExiledAjax said:

What do you mean? Could you elaborate please?

Well I think by and large this is meant to govern against financial mismanagement and clubs futures being put at risk. Although they have many faults I don’t think our owners fall into this category. I don’t think a minister or third party who will review these regulations will want to hear about some city fans kicking and screaming because we don’t win enough football games

POTY is Dickie and it's not even close.

    YPOTY is Conway by default.

Champagne? Well I went with "The introduction of the Football Governance Bill in March 2024, and it's intended objective requiring club officials to satisfy a test of their "competency". The champagne is on ice for the moment but this will hopefully, in time, lead to competent directors being in charge of Bristol City."

    Fingers crossed.

Yeh, we are who that bill is designed to protect 🤪

That's really sad that you had that information at your finger tips to instantly post

You must be prepared in order to have the required excuse/explanation/whataboutary at the moments notice

PPG was held very dear by certain members of the forum not so long ago, seems to have been cast aside now. Weird

  16. You can never fully know what player you are going to get, only have to look at two of our high profile loanees turned perms in to know that even when theres try before we buy it doesn’t always work.

said before that with twine and mebude there’s a case of thinking what type of player you might want, getting them in and seeing how it works, hence the loan. If it is that player great, sign him up or if not available someone similar. Mebude is currently an enigma. Must be a player in there but wrong time of the season to find him - but of course could have gone another way.. potentially undervalued needs the right coach and right situation etc
