When I read that I had a mix of head in hands and laughter reaction

The worst thing is I can hear some of our support asking this and actually believing they should have a say in our Managerial appointments

    Haha same. It’s phenomenal.

the sincerity in which I was written in the OP and likely asked in person is something I just can’t get over and has tickled me for about 4 hours

I was a member of Senior Reds a few years ago. I remember one meeting, pre redevelopment, when meetings were held in the Williams stand.

Steve Lansdown was guest speaker and he was criticised by one member for running the club like a non-league club. Steve became very upset and said member was never seen again. Anyone else recall this incident.

    Was this around 2008?

this exiled supporter clearly put a curse on the club and explains our poor form in recent years.

find the supporter. End the curse. The Exorcity, if you will.

I think it's safe to suggest that you also hold strong views.

However, the point being as made by @Fjmcityis that the idea of consulting "experienced" fans on a new Manager appointment is funny.

Just imagine if they got it wrong : A bed sheet protest with "Experienced fans out!"

I’m just struggling to imagine the scenario where a mature grown (presume) man is given the opportunity to question the owner and this is what they came up with. It is amusing

I honestly can’t believe the negativity after the first month under with Liam manning. We are kidding ourselves that we played a more positive game under Pearson? Yeh we might have been more drilled defensively than concede that late winner against Norwich, but would we have gone on and got a late winner against boro when throwing away a 2-0 lead? No chance

As much as I loved Nigel Pearson and what he did at the club with absolutely **** all money, he’s gone. Let’s  move on.
I think we are playing better more attacking football already then we did under nige with the squad we have. Losses away to Blackburn and Southampton are part and parcel of a hard championship season. There would have been no surprise in losing these games under Pearson by a single goal?

    Get behind the manager please

Well said, Pearson did a good job but was very functional in his play and bloody inconsistent in his results.

sick of hearing about him like we’ve gone and sacked Pep. Who people on this forum I am sure would find something to complain about with if he somehow ended up managing city.

actually no, evil Jon lansdown and his loyal dog Brian tinnion probably would because they hired guardiola and not Pearson

This. He’s dished it out a bit to fans, and even chipped in earlier today biting on a tweet from a certain someone who (I believe) he made redundant from his role at the club. Now suddenly wants to take his ball and go home because people aren’t being nice to him 24/7.

“The final proof of greatness lies in being able to endure criticism without resentment.”

I think the problem lies when the majority of the “interactions” become abusive. Why should he put himself up for that? It’s just football at the end of the day and no one should be forced to listen to some of the crap that comes from that cesspit

Some booing at the end today. Some impatience in the first half of both home games with the tactics.

The crowd that is, not the forum.

Atmosphere was flat as anything for the most part.

Just saying it’s not quite as mouth frothy embarrassingly circle jerky fantasies about ousting the lansdowns and reinstating saint nigel Pearson when in person as it is on here :)

Give Manning a bit of time and we might get a bit of excitement, you can’t expect to change 5 years of dross after just 4 games. The pessimism and negativity on this forum is unbelievable

Take a big deep breath and remember this forum is not indicative of the fan base. It’s all very exciting for those on here this evening as Christmas has come early, a city loss

Not trying to diminish your experience, but what did your dad say to them? I’d find it fairly implausible that they’d react like that unless he gave them an earful.

Certainly not implausible. At QPR I was sat near a city fan who started offering a fellow fan out just because he had the audacity to request his missus stopped vaping in front of him as it was billowing smoke into his face

  9. Thought the fans really helped them over the line. Well done all.

i was waiting for the fist pump cheers for him to tick off the young and up and coming manager bingo card 😂 grateful for it though, nothing against Pearson but I think it’s something we need to galvanise fans and team which have been disparate for too long due to style of play not being the most exciting or consistent to get the fans going

Good post (and I know we’re not on the same page generally). It is, however, a fact as confirmed by mods that several BS emails signed up last week and the OP pattern I posted is by any definition odd.

It is, however, a good point well made and I thank you for it.

And you for yours. Hilarious if they did sign up with BS email address’ have they never seen a Cold War movie?

  11. To be serious, for a moment. There are many many people who view this forum without signing up and posting, true city fans - not everyone feels confident enough or wants to engage in a debate

however.. big news or events can drive people to do so - getting frustrated that something they think isn’t being said heavily agreeing/disagreeing could prompt people to start posting.

That isn’t to say “agents” have not come on here, it could happen but to what point? Change the mind of a whole fanbase? A. No one changes their mind on a forum, that’s fairly given as a fact of life and B. This forum is a very very small slice of the fanbase.

For one’s sanity it is always good to remember B. Going to a game usually helps remind you of that

  12. In 2015, a crack commando unit was sent by Steve lansdown to perform a crime he couldn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to a gurnsey based compound. Today, still wanted by the OTIB they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if you want to sack a problematic manager, and if you want to promote the new manager on a fans forum....maybe you can hire The happy clapper team.

This is a fair point but there have been some terrible decisions and wasted opportunities.

2008 totally stands out for me, January 2008..A sliding door moment? It isn't that easy no, but Stoke pushed for it in January 2008.

There was bad luck, 6 years from stadium plan at Ashton Vale, we had to slide to Plan B..October 2013.

NP and his staff just the latest example, if there was a time to back and continue building it was now.

After 20-25 years it can go stale. There has been misfortune, there have been bad decisions but it feels like Bristol City and the Lansdowns have run their course.

I should also add, the game like the market moves quickly. SL and his strategy looked sound on one level in Spring 2023 but for 2 subsequent events.

    1) The FA liberalised work permits..unexpected.

    2) Championship clubs begin spending again, in part spending next year's TV money in the here and now.

I do think they have possibly missed one opportunity to many, and made one misstep to far to bring it back round to have another run at it I agree. I understand the lack of faith and belief. but I don’t say it to be hyperbolic or out of frustration with the anti lansdown rhetoric, I am genuinely and deeply concerned about the shape and form that investment or a takeover would come in. The world of football ownership is overrun with charlatans and snake oil salesmen. I just worry what this could bring to our football club - this concerns me way more than a bungling albeit largely well intentioned family based in guernsey.

the disintegration and about turn on the Pearson relationship and strategy is so curious, we really did look like we had settled into nige continuing to settle the ship while new investment was sought. Was the mediocre football not selling the club well enough, is this another tilt to try and get up and the club to have a lasting lansdown future or again to make the club have more value? I really don’t know

Your point 1 is interesting, not something I’d heard before - could you elaborate and on how it might have affected us?
